Viva Frida
This is a Frida Kahlo inspired headband. More specifically it was inspired by an artist's interpretation of Frida Kahlo I also used a combination of two different flower tutorials 9with some changes of course).

I apologize for the lack of good construction photos.

  • Step 1

Gather your materials: you may use and alter the listed flower tutorial as you like. I did not follow it completely. Making the riolled flowers is the first step. once the strips were cut, I sewed them in place. Then i used a glue gun to secure the bottoms with felt circles. This also makes a base for sewing.

  • Step 2

After my flowers were done I made a leaf shape that for them. I used two pieces of green fabric fused together and drew the shape onto the fabric. Once I was done sewing, I cut them out.
My leaf pieces were loosely based on this tutorial:

This photo shows the headband arranged for sewing after the pieces were completed. You can see how the leaves were paired.

  • Step 3

Once my leaves were done, I sewed them together in pairs. I spray painted a metal headband and I attached the flowers and leaves to it by hand sewing. This photo shows how I paint the headbands.
