It's not a matter of pence, but of principle. Felted flower around a big large marble with some kitschy elements
My little sis had asked for her birthday a felted transparent keyholder with a marble inside of it to make for her.
But i thought humm that's borring to make and tryed out some left overfelting scraps to add and felting them together to make a flower of it, by using the washing machine.
i didn't thought of it to make pictures , so sorry for you all
But i thought some of you want to know the how too as well.
it's easy to make and it's tough cool looking as well.

i think my sister is lost him allready-S
Haven't seen him later on her bag or keys-S

notes
the time is without the drying time of the felting process that was two times one by hand and one in the washing machine.
and later on i have cut some parts off the felted ball on both sides to make him transparent.
And added some embroidery stiches and some beads and sequines.

thank you for hopping by;-D

  • Step 1

Wrap a colour of fibres around the marble tightly.
on that you can add some more other colours until the marble is coverd with a thick layer of woolen fibres.

  • Step 2

Take some hot water with soap on it and your bubble plastic.
Make the covered up marble wet in the soap water.
Cover him in the bubble wrapping and start to rub this in your hands first softlyamd gentle and later on tigthly.
Afer a while you will feel that the marble will felt strong , then go on some more minutes untill the marble is wraped tightly by the fibres and all is felted around the marble.

    Let it dry.
You don't have to clean the soap out the felted marble because you will go on later.

  • Step 3

Take some scraps of your felt fabric you have and cut of them some small leaves for making the flower.
Don't make them too small. because they will be smaller as well after some more felting.

  • Step 4

When the marble is dried (that's i not necessary ,but when it is dry it much easier to cut some small holes in the felted marble).
Make small hole at the side of the felted marble for the leaves
but you can do it in the wet felt as well.
and with your awl you poke the flower leaves inside.
with some stiches you can make them fixed.

cut on both sides with a sharp mes a holes in the felt so you see the marble on both sides.
Don't make the holes tooooo large, just small ones because they will become after the next felting much larger.;-D
(and when the holes are tooo large the marble can fall out the felt.

  • Step 5

Now you must do it in an old sock or panty hose and tight him closed.
and let do the washing machine the rest of the felting.
i always filled my washing machine full with laundry and set it on cotton heat and let him do the rest.;-D
    easy piecy.lOL

  • Step 6

hold after the washing machine the marble out of the old sock or pantyhose and reshape it and let it dry.

  • Step 7

If you like you can add some embroidery, beads or sequin. Tou don't have to, but i knew that my sis loves kitschy things so i did.;-D
Now you're done to use him or give away.;-D
hope you like it and give it a try as well;-D

thanks for reading and hopping by much crafting fun;-D!!!
