No need to buy a new bed to make a statement headboard
Ikea's MALM bed frame has simple, clean lines and can also be customized in many ways; but this is the easiest.

    Drape your fabric over the headboard so you can measure how much you need and cut the excess off. Secure the fabric underneath the mattress for now with a few pieces of duct tape; later, we will go back and secure the whole length of the bed.
