I made some felt beets for some friends. Here they are.
-
1
Cut out your pieces. A half circle in a nice dark beet color and a leafy green double leaf piece for the greens.
-
2
Fold the half circle in half and sew up the open edge, don't forget that nifty little notch in to make a most beety beet shape.
-
3
Flip the felt inside out and STUFF!
-
4
Stitch around the top of the stuffed beet with big straight stitches and pull tight.
-
5
With the beet colored thread stitch veins down the center of each side of your greens. I suggest and up and back method.
-
6
Before you knot it pull the greens tight, but not oo tight to creata "leafy" effect.
-
7
Roll up your greens. I rolled tightly one way, then took the "second leaf" and rolled it back on itself. I think the effect is better.
-
8
-
9
Stitch the greens to the open "whole" in the top of the "beet". Now you have a cute little beet with greens.

These are so much fun! I'm working on a Roundup of felt food (huge felt food fan!) and I'll be linking to this.
