This unfortunate thrift store find was transformed into a cute little dress in an afternoon.

Step 1Cut off the sleeves.

Step 2Cut straight a slight sweetheart neckline across front, and cut straight across back.

Step 3If necessary, take in sides and add bust darts to fit your body.

Step 4Hem the top edge.

Step 5From the sleeves, cut two rectangles, roughly 8 inches by 18 inches, for straps.

Step 6Sew each rectangle into a long tube and turn right-side-out.

Step 7Fold raw edges inward and sew ends closed.

Step 8Scrunch ends of straps and sew to front and back of top edge.

Step 9Trim excess length.

Step 10Hem bottom edge.

Step 11With scrap trimmed from bottom edge, sew into a very, very long tube and turn right-side-out. Finish off ends and use as a sash.
