The Knotty Braid

How would you describe your style?

My style is layers of easy. I prefer to minimize the thought I have to put into getting dressed because who doesn't want to sleep an extra 10 minutes, so I try to choose pieces that go with plenty of items I already have. A tailored messy look is usually how I roll out. Often there is a hair out of place or something tucked or rolled wrong but I like that.

What's your favourite piece in your wardrobe?

My black flowing skirt with floral print, mid length. It works for every. single. season. I call that a win.

Who are your style icons?

Fellow bloggers for sure. I love the looks that look thrown on but put together at the same time. I could also name about 42 celebs here because I'm a fan of many styles and I like to wear them all.

Do you have any favourite designers?

If I'm being honest, probably the designers I wear on regular basis that are hidden behind big names like Jcrew and other brands. Of course, a girl always loves her Alexander McQueen, too. ;)

Where are your favourite places to shop for new clothes?

ASOS, Madewell, Jcrew, Banana Republic, Free People, TJMaxx, Nordstrom, H & M. Should I continue?

Do you make or customise your outfits?

I make them work for my body. Sometimes just throwing on a shirt doesn't flatter. Tucking a corner or rolling the sleeves can dramatically change the look and help your figure. I tend to work with the clothing I have, but I don't go near a sewing machine unsupervised.

Do you have any great tips for mixing up and personalising an outfit?

If you're wearing it because it looked good on the girl on the internet, you will never feel your best in it. Putting your own flair to your outfits is key. Trust me, the confidence will be coming out of all directions. Sometimes I play a game with myself to wear something I've never worn or one new item of jewelry thats just been sitting there forever. More often than not I fall in love with that piece all over again and end up wearing it over and over.
