Scarf Swap 2011

I've grown tired of waiting for a swap I am able to participate in... So, I am posting this one and will see if anyone is interested.

I have borrowed SilverM0on's idea for the scarf Swap and am going for Round 2 since there are many interested individuals, and I like scarves! I have never done a swap (still waiting to be picked up on the Newbie vs. Vets), so please bear with me. I have read a lot about them in this forum and I think I can handle it with a little faith from other users!

I'm fine with partnering with a newbie, although if I *do* get partnered with someone new, I'd like to send my package once I've recieved theirs. (If that's alright?)

p.s. I'm a newbie, hope that's ok, I did put my name down on the newbie swap but didn't get partnered up as yet, I'd love to get going on swaps Happy

How many items are we doing? In the vet's & newbies swaps it says generally 3+?

Angel Eve - No, it does not have to be a knit scarf, I'd say whatever you are most comfortable making will be most appreciated!

Sarsaparilla - I'm a Newbie too, so don't fret, just do your best and we won't be Newbies after this one!

I'm up for ideas, but I would say we should do the one item for now (the scarf) and whatever you would like to throw into the package for your partner I'm sure they will appreciate! But, in my opinion we should keep it simple especially since there are Newbies participating and the time frame to do the project is only a month. Once again, I'm totally open for other suggestions!

Does a month seem like a reasonable amount of time for this swap to everyone else out there?

I'm so excited that there is interest out there for this swap! Is it alright with everyone that has posted that I add ya'll as my friends? I don't currently have many friends on this site, and I am trying to become more actively involved with the wonderful people here! Therefore, if it is alright with ya'll I would like to be your friend!

Tell your friends to join in if they are interested in swapping scarves! We will get the ball rolling once the weekend has concluded and a few more folks have the chance to join in if they are interested!

dropthetacos - I forgot to note, I do not see a problem with you sending out your swap once you have received one if you are paired with a newbie! If you don't mind, please make your partner aware of this as well if you do get paired with a Newbie.

If you would like to pair up with someone specific, please let us know now. If you don't care who you are paired with I will randomly pair folks up this weekend; and because there are a few Newbies, (myself included) I will pair the news up with vets where possible. Which makes it look like this is becoming more of a "Newbie vs. Vets: Scarf Swap"! Is this alright with everyone here?

Color Likes: Black and red prefered, but i would be up for neons

Please note that i cannot knit, so i would be making a scarf out of fleece or some other way. So i guess my partner will not have to be picky :p

Angel Eve, have you ever tried to knit with a loom? It's super easy. I totally understand not being able to knit with needles. I use a loom all the time because it gives the same look as with needles. Happy

Angel Eve, I am so glad you will be joining in! A scarf is a scarf! As long as it wraps around your neck and blocks the wind while looking respectable; I say make it from whatever you like!

Haven't done many swaps here lately, but I love making scarfs with my knitting looms or crocheting and I have a ton of yarn so count me in.
