Capn K'nuckle's costume help?

For Halloween my boyfriend and I are going to be Captain K'nuckles and Flapjack. He's gonna be Flapjack because he's the goofy one and I'm more of the serious one.

But anyway, I don't know HOW on Earth I'm going to make the hat!

I was thinking of just hot gluing cardboard pieces together and then gluing fabric on it too but I have no idea how I'm going to do all of this as in the way it should look and fit and all of that Happy

I have everything else down, I know it's a bit away but I have to sew everything by hand so I gotta get a head start :/




Any suggestions?

Ok...not sure if this will make sense or not, and I'm not sure if you want a literal translation of this costume...so try to understand what I'm a about to say, cause it's in my head and I'm not sure how to work it out.


Ok...Take a blue pillowcase (or long, blue tube of fabric. you want the bottom edge to be around your hips) and paint on his face (closed edge will be the top of the head). You can draw the hat, cut it out of 2 pieces of brown (stiff) fabric. Sew up the edges, leaving a space at the bottom for turning. Stuff it a bit, but don't make it too heavy. Insert the pillowcase into the hole and baste it on. I'm thinking, have someone help you to line it up so the hat actually fits on your head. I'm not sure about this...just whatever seems to work.

Now, at the bottom of the pillowcase, sew on a tshirt or something that will look like his shirt, and baste a similar looking jacket to the t-shirt. When you put the pillowcase over your head the neck of the shirt should be around your hips so that your head looks really big and your torso really short. stuff the arms of the coat with something light...maybe a couple of small balloons. Stuff the ends of the sleeves into the jacket pockets and baste them in.

Now wear brown tights and funky boots.

Did that make sense? (Don't forget to cut eye and mouth holes...lol)

(ps. your arms will be inside the pillowcase...so you might want to make arm holes too. Just pop your arms out whenever you need to hold something. haha)

I have no idea if this will actually work, but. If you made a band out of paper/ cardboard or something as big as you head and then cut the shape out of cardboard and attach it to the band how you want it to sit, then so the same to the back, and put a strip in the middle to fill in space.. Kinda like what you said. And then you could paint it or cover it with fabric.

Get some foam, like sheets of the flat stuff...spray paint it brown, draw on the hat shape with a small opening deep enouhg and wide enough to fit your head.

Okay thanks for the help you guys! I did the cardboard/paper thing and I can't wait to post a picture of what it looks like so far. It's totally cartoonish, my sister almost choked from laughing so hard when I put it on ha
