Foxtons

Has anyone on here ever renting with Foxtons?

The place we want is with them but we're getting really put off by what we're reading about them. It's already off to a bad start, they tried to suggest that we don't register to vote so that we don't have to pay council tax, when the website stated that the price included council tax. We're really not sure if it's worth it.

hmm well what I'd do is first of all take a screen shot of the web page that says this. then I'd look at other places, If you find something similar with a better price (it dosn't matter if you dont like it or its in the wrong area for you) mention this to them, ask them what they can do. say about the council tax and how you were unimpressed, and that you found their suggestion insulting.
was it a sales assistant that mentioned it? like the person that showed you round?

right just read some stuff about them, maybe another estate agent would be better Happy

Yeah that does seem a bit dodgy.

Definately do your background research first and maybe talk to someone from there properly, then people from other places

I think that's terrible it's your right to vote and it already includes tax! Hope it works out for you Cat and Tom!

I agree with the others, if you can put them and the flat on hold, check out other agencies first.

I don't think we paid council tax in the UK, but then again we weren't registering to vote and I seriously doubt the guy was saying he was renting out the house anyway.

maybe you could try and get hold of the vendor details? then you could try and rent from them directly if you want that particular property really badly. I was going to say know your rights and give foxtons a go, but then I found a 'we hate foxtons' website...

We sorted it out in the end, they put it in the contract that the council tax needed to be paid by the landlord. We've got the place and we love it, now I just hope we don't have any problems, so that we don't have to deal with Foxtons.
