Heeelp

I'm on antibiotics because my piercing is infected, and I just read the information leaflet in it because I was bored and found out the bastard has gelatin in it!

I'm SO pissed off that my doctor didn't think to tell me about that! It's not uncommon to be vegetarian and surely it's worth mentioning, for christ's sake.

Now I don't know whether to carry on taking them. I want this ear infection to go away but I already feel awful that I've been having bits of dead things for the past couple of weeks.

What should I do?

make an appointment and ask can you have some without gelatin, poor KK! sometimes my mum gets paracetamol in capsules so i have to cut the capsules and swallow the powder and it's ikky and it's a waste of animal cuz then I throw the capsule away.

yeh I was gonna suggest the same as opposites but I think they'd say that she'd have to talk to her GP first?

I just googled vegan medicine and yahoo answers says that your chemist will give you the vegan option if you just ask, but as you have already taken your stuff, I am not sure if they will give you a fresh batch? No harm in asking though!

this is not really related but a bus company in preston has started to use leather on their seats to give people a luxurious journey and the vegetarian society got involved and said there are alternative options and this bus company guy was like 'I don't see what the problem is' !!! They asked people and that's what they suggested but the company should have considered vegetarians and vegans and omg on a bus on a hot day with leather seats uuurgh you'd stick.

I think a pair of shoes I have are real leather and a pair of boots are real suede but the boots were bought before i went veggie and the shoes were bought in the deciding phase so don't count even though I feel so bad about them!

I'd use it and I'd love it.
I'd wear my fur coat on the bus too for a real touch of class.

more power to you guys who are veggie and vegan, I am hispanic and grew up loving food and cooking, I tried to be a veggie but failed miserably, I am mighty proud of you guys who took that step for changing your life style for the better. Happy

I called up first thing this morning and talked to a doctor over the phone who managed to get me some vegetarian ones. She said that they don't normally prescribe them because they have more side-effects like nausea, but I'd rather take the risk. Unfortunately this now means I have to take them for another week, but at least it's resolved.

grats kk! I was hoping they would help you out on getting it fixed, some doctors will presribe things cause they think the solutions is much greater than the risks i.e the nausea factor but since you let them know now they could put that in your record for future references, I hope your infection goes away and you feel better.

Yeah I just have to be careful now, I didn't realise that the "plastic" coating on capsules is gelatin, so now I have to make sure I buy tablet paracetomal instead and stuff
