Okay Magazines Michael Jackson 'Memorial' Issue!?!

In the UK we have a crappy celeb mag called Okay (kind of a rip off of Hello). They like to compete for celeb wedding pics. Well they have outdone themselves. I'm not a Michael Jackson fan but you don't need to be one to see that their, so called, 'Memorial Issue' is in extremely bad taste. They have a picture of him on the stretcher with oxygen mask as their front cover. Since when has printing a picture of someone after they have died or on the brink of death been a 'memorial'?

That is tasteless. I liked Michael's music and all but they are getting rediculous with his death, give him a rest will ya! It's just a little too much overkill, no pun intended.

I agree, it's so disgusting. My friends and I were talking about this earlier and we all agreed that it was complelety sick and unnecessary. But there will be countless numbers of people who will by the magazine out of morbid fascination. Personally I won't be even touching one of the magazines, even glancing at the cover when I've seen it in shops makes me feel uneasy and wrong.

Its awful. I've always thought OK was a pretty sleazy mag, but this is going too far. And i'm also sick of the whole "Micheal isn't the father, Debbie isn't the mother" crap. The point is 3 children lost their parent, and all this BS doesn't need to be brought out. Gosh!

errrrrrrrrrrrrr, what, why, eww tacky. I can't believe they are doing this, its all over the tv here. Let the family greive.

and yeah, a picture in a trashy mag is not a memorial

In Switzerland there were 13 pages (of one of these free trainstation-newspapers) dedicated to him.
On page 2 they talked about his painkiller addiction and on page 3 there was a half-page advertisement for aspirin... Some people just don't think of what they're doing...
My grandfather worked as a proof-reader of different newspapers and one of his colleagues got immediately fired after having overlooked an advertisement for a tour operator. The advertisement was placed below the death notice of some famous guy. The text of the ad. approx. was: "We will accompany you! For a safe and joyful journey choose xy-travels" (But as it was 70 years ago, they even wrote it in rhyme form... Happy but I forgot it...)
newspapers can be disgusting...

Yeah, you can have sympathy and memorials in newspapers for a week or whatever, but after that it deserves to just be left alone so that his family can find closure and mourn privately. It's funny that all the people who make the "Michael Jackson RIP" groups on Facebook or wherever are the ones most likely to go out and buy that "memorial" issue of OK. And RIP? They're not exactly letting him rest in peace by buying the magazines and newspapers that splash all the scandal and dirt about him all over the covers are they. Hypocrites.

Yes please, leave him alone. Just like he asked in one of his titled songs many years ago. (Leave Me Alone)

I agree with you all that the OK magazine "memorial" was in bad taste. You would have thought that they would have learned from their Jade Goody "memorial" that was in equally bad taste. (I hasten to add at this point that I do NOT read OK magazine, but it is hard to miss that cover - yuech!)

Yeah the Jade thing was pretty grim too. If people want to remember Michael Jackson they will play his music. As Izzy said all this 'RIP Michael' isn't actually letting him rest in peace. And all okay have done is remind his family, who probably want to remember him when he was well, what he looked like when he was dying. Noone wants that memory of someone they love.

Urgh the whole Jade Goody thing reall irritated me. She got famous for doing absolutely nothing and going on Big Brother and being an idiot. Don't get me wrong though, it's sad that she died because she was another human being, I just think that the media made her out to be a saint and an amazingly talented person when she wasn't (in a purely celebrity status sense, not through knowing her personally if you get what I mean).
Michael Jackson however actually got famous because of his talent though, so he deserves memorials in the media.

I agree the Jade thing was overdone too, I was living in Ireland during that season of BB. She got famous for being a dumb blond, but she was a mum. and it was sad.

MJ did do some amazing things, but I believe death shoulding be splashed all over by the media
