Dr Who, begginers help :S

Ok so I've always wanted to watch dr who, but it seems to not come on regularly, idk if it's my time zone, or cable provider but I only get a few episodes and not in any real order. Like tonight I saw 3 Christmas episodes in a row. (?) kinda weird.... Anyway my question for avid watchers and lovers of the Doctor is ....... Where to start???????

I know don't need to go all the way back to the 60's for today's episodes to make sense but which tv series show I start watching 1st? I plan on just buying /renting the seasons I need to get current and catch up that way, then I can watch the new ones online.

So should I just start with the David tenant series? Or further, or just pick up With the 11th Doctor?

Thanks for any help Happy

Don't ignore the Christopher Eccleston series. I don't think you need to in order for the story to make sense but he's really very good.
David Tennant was excellent and Matt Smith is also very good, with every change of doctor you think they can't be replaced but it always works!!

Well, I like Matt Smith as the doctor (current doctor) more then David, and I really do not care for the episodes with him in them although I enjoy him as an actor greatly. If you do not mind David you can start with his episodes. You can start when he starts or go a few episodes back before Matt Smith starts, I feel like kind of since all of the episodes begin a new adventure, if they are not a two part, they are fairly easy to catch on to. You just want to watch the current seasons when they come back on, and catch up? So really if you start when David regenerates (I am pretty sure that is the word they use) into Matt you should be A-okay, I don't think you really need to start with David, unless you want to. I think you will be able to pick it up quickly, you seem super smart Happy

But yeah, I recommend the beginning of Matt, but you can start with David if you like Happy And all the episodes with my cable are David, and the same four or five episodes of him Tongue They don't do a good job keeping track of what they do and don't air, but I sure hope I helped!! I LOVE doctor who!! I am also just so disappointing that the companions are gonna change so soon!!

If you watch Tennant's series without watching Eccleston you might be a bit confused, I suggest starting with 9 and then watch 10 & 11.
