I'm going to be an aunt!

So I got the news today that my big brother and his wife are having a baby!

It's a really weird feeling for me, but I want to be able to support them even though I'm 1200 miles away.

I'm definitely going to whip up some knitted hats and sew up a quilt for the baby, but I want it to be extra special... Babies are kind of foreign to me, so how would I make baby stuff special? I guess it mostly has to be special for my brother and sister-in-law.

I'm so excited!

I'm so excited for you! I'm a huge geek, and so is my boyfriend so I when we discovered we were expecting I spent a lot of time making geeky baby toys and hats, car seat covers, blankets, ect. I posted a lot of what I made on here so feel free to check that out for inspiration.

I'm also going to be an aunt! This week :p

Babies are also a foreign thing to me... but I'm excited about it. In my case, people have already given my sister lots of clothes and I wanted to make something special. I thought about making a plushie. Maybe you can make one as well Happy

Congrats! Happy
I don't know if you know how to crochet (can't find real crocheted pieces in your project list), but you can crochet adorable booties! They just make me melt ;)

Here are some examples:

How cute are those Converse shoes?! ;)

If you know how to crochet, it is really easy to make great toys/plushies too.

This website is great for baby stuff too. I especially love this baby mobile: http://www.repeatcrafterme.com/2013/08/crochet-lamb-pattern-and-baby-mobile.html

This is all crochet.. If you don't know how to crochet (yet), just try it!
You know how to knit, this is way easier! You just make loops trough 1 loop instead of a lot, like you do with knitting.

Good luck! Keep us posted! Happy

I'm going to try my hand at making some cool, soft toys.
I have some fabrics picked out to make a really cute quilt already Happy

I love being an Auntie and I miss my nieces and nephews as they are still in the UK. My blog is aimed at letting my nieces know what I've been up to.
Enjoy the families new arrival

Congratulations, Monika! Try to find out what theme your brother and sister-in-law are choosing and make a quilt that will match…
I had my son a jungle theme and had a jungle blanket and crib bumper with jungle animals as a mobile. Those three items according their theme would be so personal and special.

Little onesies that match the theme. And make sure that if it is a boy or girl if they want variety. I had a friend once say that she hated that everything for baby girls is pink… so feminine blues and greens could change it up for a "trapped" mother-to-be…

any "sack" that can attach or fit in a diaper bag; diaper pouch, pacifier pouch, baby bottle carriers/insulators.
AND MONIKA!! What about a specially designed baby soap!? It's one of your things...

CONGRATS!
I bet you will be an amazing aunt. I'm almost jealous in a way. I have two siblings that are almost 30. One is to busy, and one isn't really looking for a relationship. If it wasn't for you living so far away I would offer to babysit sit for free, I love babies.

I love babies that don't cry all the time XD My mom's old coworker had a baby about 5 years ago, and my mom and I would go out to eat with them every once in a while. She was so sweet and quiet. Happy

Baby soap is a maybe, I would just need to test a few recipes first.

Congratulations Happy

There are no babies in my life at the moment so things seem a little empty in a way!

To me relaxed parents mean relaxed babies but that is maybe just how things have been with me

Monika I hope you enjoy things as much as you can - you just need to be quick with the projects as they grow so fast!

Stuffed animals are always cute, and you can personalize them with the colors and such. I made an amigurumi rabbit for a friend's new baby sister, and they wore it out by the time they were three Happy

And congrats on being an aunt!
