hello

i have just found this site it looks good;
i am trying to set up a small hand made craft business so far i have got my domain name and name for business , but am having problems with what i can and can't sell , how i need to label things , i have made bunting , and i have designed and made knitted bags, as well as many other crafty things so will start off small and see where it all leads!!! i have brought several books on selling hand m goods but they don't seem to have the answers to the legal side of labeling etc Happy

Labelling is only really an issue if you are selling foodstuffs or toiletries/cosmetics

If you're making soft toys etc, there are issues with safety regulations, as long as you're sensible, most things are fine. Obviously if its a baby toy, you wouldnt use buttons for eyes and sew on long ribbons etc....
If it has small parts, I put a "not recommended for children under3" on it, and if you put a bit on your price ticket saying "for decorative purposes only" supposedly that covers all eventualities.

Yeah, i read a few like that! Chapters and chapters of jargon then at the end they played the "intended for decorative purposes only" card, and I was like "jeez, if you'd said that in the beginning, i wouldn't have had to buy another cup of coffee while i was seriptisously taking notes in the bookshop!!!"
