Too Much Stuff!

Yay!!! I am not alone. Sometimes I feel like the crazy craft lady. I have commandeered a table in my living room that is piled (neatly, of course) with stuff, then I have what's under my table, and I have a whole room which isn't so neat. I have a habit of never throwing things out because it might be used in the future. I even collected thin long strips of plastic (WHYYYY??? I don't know. It seemed cool though.) And, now...Now I have my own station at my husband's office.

I am right there with you, Violetta and Sheila. I have a tackle box full of old jewelry and beads. My friend works at our local thrift shop and she pulls whatever she thinks I might be able to use.

I do all my crafting on the floor too! XD ...or sometimes on my bed, which now has paint all over my sheets. Happy
Theres no desk in my room, & the floor hurts my butt a lot. I only recently got a big comfy chair for my birthday, so now i sit in it & use the arms as a table. haha.
I just recently got fed up with all my art & craft supplies (& the ton of paintings i had layin on the floor), & stole lots of shelves from my brothers closet. I thought i needed them more. Tongue I'm really relieved i did that ...cuz it was really bad. I still cant find stuff sometimes tho.

I practically live in my bedroom (since i live w/ my parents still), and my art stuff is becoming overwhelming. Theres more art stuff then furniture and entertainment really. ITs awful.

I got really overwhelmed last month, cuz i signed up for too many swaps on here, trades on another site, and i had 2 paintings going. All at once. And i was payin for postage w/ money i didnt have. I was stressed out. But i learned my lesson. lol

No you are not the only one who hoards crafting supplies Tara. I am VERY guilty of the aforementioned crime. But really - you NEVER know when you will need it! I mean, I have so much fabric and notions and buttons and elastic and beads, and clay and paint and EVERYTHING it is crazy! Sometimes it drives me insane and I just want to throw it all out. Luckily for me I have a very sane man who lives in my house nad calms me down and tells me that I don't really want to throw it out, I just need a break. he knows that if I donate it or throw it away I will just collect more!
I am the worst at FREE craft supplies though. I just can't say no. Friends and family are constantly giving leftover bits and bobs for crafting/sewing/being creative. I appreciate the sentiment of course, but sometimes I just don't know what to do with the stuff.....

Lydia I don't blame you for taking the free crafting stuff... it's freeeeeeeeeee lol.
No matter what you get you can't chuck it out because it could be used to make something cool.

i'm tidying my room at the moment, and no matter how much other stuff i get rid of, I can never bear to part with any of my craft things, "just in case" i might ever need it in future!!

I am so glad I am not the only one!

Lydia, that is how I get most of my stuff. My husbands grandparents are always picking out stuff from garage sales. (=

I am the worst pack rat. I keep everything! Recently i got rid of a lot of my stuff (over 6 trash bags full) and gave it to salvation army stores and I still dont have room for all of it. I did paint my room and get some new shelfing an my room looks sooo much better i wish i would have done it earlier.

Lolly - that is exactly how I feel! It is free! There is this place I used to go to in Edmonton called the Reuse centre where they would give you AS MUCH AS YOU WANTED from their bins of craft supplies, yarns, bottle caps, shoulder pads, fabric, patterns, baskets, pipe cleaners, old trohpies - all craft stuff for $2!! They charge $4 now (it became really popular). All of the items are donated. So you can donate a whole boatload of milkjug tops and egg cartons, pay $2 and walk out with cool patterns, fabric scraps and zippers. It is an awesome place. I got a lot of my stuff there not to mention garage sales and family members.
Tara- That is so fun! I bet they find all of the really cool retro funky stuff too! One really fun idea is a "stashbustathon" in which all of the participants make a craft or project every day or every week for a set amount of time in an effort to use up their stashes of ... well stuff. It could be a really cool idea!

OH MY GOSH, I am so in tune with this thread, not only do I have sooooooooo much craft stash that it fills our spare room two store cupboards, a wardrobe, three sets of drawers and the kitchen table, but there's all my clothes (some of which are three sizes too big), and my at the last count 18000 books. and the worst thing is I have to box it all up because we're having the whole house rewired, and a new boiler fitted.

Siobhan, I've stop counting my books. Last week I popped out to get a banana and came back with a book signed by the author....that was a long lunch for nipping to the shop Happy

If you want a chuckle about the issue of stuff watch this Happy I think George Carlin hits the nail on the head - I've just unpacked from a week away and all this dirty washing seems to have appears to have hitched a ride! I am such a charity shop junkie tho, especially with clothes and have hoards of stuff - the iron pile was waving at us when we got home last night, and then there was the random piles of clean washing from the mountain I did before we went away and then there is 3 body bags full under the bed (I call vac packs body bags as thats what they remind me off)!!! I mainly buy stuff as for the cool fabric so I also have an enormous basket of fabric from cool sheets and remnents from the basket on the fabric stall near work.

That is hilarious! It is quite true though that we all have a house to contain our stuff.
