Recycled storage for crafty stuff

Hubby and I are the proud parents of four fine felines. Smart as they are, they still use the litter box like normal cats. Although I don't consider myself a hardcore environmentalist, it is pretty sad to see all the plastic litter containers tossed in the trash every week.

The use I have found for them is almost to simple to post photos of: I've been cutting the tops off of them and using them to file my vast quantities of magazines. I save tons of printed material for ideas or slice and dice. It gets a bit out of hand, so the litter containers really help keep them in good condition and from sliding all over like they do when stacked in piles.

I have yet to run out of magazines since I had this brain storm, but there are plenty of other things that could be easily stored this way.

That is such a great idea!! We don't go through as many litter containers, but it's the one thing I never thought to recycle! I use all my ice cream containers, jars and I made some cereal boxes into a file for my bills! Just need more space for all these boxes now!

My husband and I live in a one bedroom apartment with four cats, so space is my constant issue.

We are the same, except one cat, so I can imagine your need for space!

I can't imagine one cat. Our older three were the same litter. We had Eddie only two days before his sisters came home.

One thing small apartment living has gotten the cats in free access to the kitchen counters, except when we are actually cooking. I don't have the heart to limit what little climbing space they have. They love the top of the cabinet area.

I would love more Happy But don't plan to live here forever, so will wait till we settle somewhere.

We are the same with allowing them climb. We actually have no counters in the kitchen! So, Tara only gets on top of the fridge and sink area in the kitchen and the table when she smells tuna! haha
Lately she has started to like to sit on the stool at table level and watch me while I prepare food or coffee, she likes to give everything a good sniff before we use it hehe she is quite the cat!

No counters?!? I have to stop complaining about my kitchen.

I just love cat's personalities. They are all so unique and quirky. Must make me feel normal being around these little odd creatures with odd little habits.

I also live with 4 cats and never ever thought of how to use the litter jugs. Nice going!
Here's a site, it gives the instructions for crocheting cans into hats and stuff.

This is off topic but a good recycle, I have a friend who is diabetic and reuses detergent bottles for her syringes.
