Victorian Urchin Bonnet

Scraps and rags and lace and buttons.

This was easy to make and a good use of an old and holey jumper I have.

  1. Step 1

    Cut off the hood from an old jumper or hoodie (mine was very lightweight, a cardigan might work well so experiment.

  2. Step 2

    Stitch a hem where the hood was cut so that it doesn't unravel.


  3. Step 3

    Step 3

    Add ribbon so that you are able to tie your bonnet.

  4. Step 4

    Step 4

    Decorate with lace, buttons, beads or anything that takes your fancy. I decided to go for a rough and ready victorian urchin look but as said above, experiment!


  5. Step 5

    Step 5

    Enjoy your bonnet. Very good for cosplay, LARP, dressing up or keeping your ears warm on a frosty autumn morining.
