Turn an old studded belt into a new hair accessory!

Inspired by Blind Mag (REPO: The Genetic Opera) and impeccable Gothic fashion/style! I had an old belt sitting around that was beat up and ill-fitting so I decided to cut it up to make a headband.
This is similar to the other studded headbands here on CO+K but is much faster to make since you don't have to stud something yourself.

TIPS: This project is also a great way to upcycle beat up studded wristbands.
Also, using a cloth-covered headband will make the hot glue hold better. Plastic headbands are smooth and will cause the hot glue to peel away easily.

Instructions

  1. 1

Heat up your hot glue gun.
While the glue gun is heating, hold the belt up to where you want to wear it on your head.
Using strong scissors, cut the leather close to the studs.

  2. 2

Line up the studded belt piece with where you want it to be on the headband. It might help to mark the headband with tailor's chalk.

  3. 3

Apply 3-4 passes of hot glue to the middle of the bottom of the studded belt section. Working quickly, line up the band of hot glue to the headband, and press down for 1-2 minutes until the hot glue is cool.

Pick off any extra hot glue that may have oozed out from under the belt patch, and your headband is ready to wear!
