  1. Step 1

    Step 1

    enjoy a beverage of choice. rinse and dry.

  2. Step 2

    Step 2

    cut the top off of the can. i used old every day scissors.


  3. Step 3

    Step 3

    cut strips and flatten out so it looks kinda like a flower.

  4. Step 4

    Step 4

    now take one strip and bend over the strip to the left of it and fold over about 1/2 of the end underneath the ashtray (sorry kinda confusing to say)


  5. Step 5

    Step 5

    continue all the way around!

  6. Step 6

    Step 6

    Finished can!

LOL! This is @%!#&%* awesome!!!! It remindes me of how my boyfriend uses soda cans for ashtrays, lol! But it's NEVER as as nice as this, or nice at all for that matter! I spy a cream soda can that needs to be repurposed!

Hmm, that is a pretty neat project. I think however, you shouldn't use it for an ashtray.

Jewelry tin seems like a much better idea. But that's still really cool. However that one step seems a little confusing lol!

Great Idea!
But i would think you would want to wear gloves when cutting and bending the can? And maybe it would be a good idea to add extra snips and fold all sharp edges inward,so the finished project has no sharp edging?
I may give this a try..

I am totally making these for my back porch! I have a glass ashtray out there now, which keeps filling up with rain water/snow and then freezing. I am afraid one of these days it might just explode.
