Sock Gloves

Turn a pair of socks in to gloves.

Add to Favorites Add Your Version


  1. Step 1

    Step 1

    Find a pair of socks.

  2. Step 2

    Step 2

    Cut a straight line across where the foot part of the sock begins.

  3. Step 3

    Step 3

    Fold inside out and place on your hand. Spread out your thumb and pin out where the edge of your index finger and thumb begin.

  4. Step 4

    Step 4

    Sew along this v-shaped line, removing the pins as you go.

  5. Step 5

    Step 5

    Place this on your hang again and cut a line down the middle of the v-shape.

  6. Step 6

    Step 6

    Fold over, about 1cm, at the top of the glove and thumb hole.

  7. Step 7

    Step 7

    Take a needle and thread and sew around the glove and thumb holes. To sew it correctly start with a hemming stitch, turn this in to a running stitch for 1cm and then make another hemming sitch and so on.

these are awesome I didnt hem the top of mine and so far they havent frayed I love them! you can also make these out of old shirt sleeves but you have to tighten them

yay! my friend and i used to make similar things back in my very diy punk days... these are much more intelligently done :P actually amped to try it again, these look great, not crusty :P

I did the same thing with an old grey sock of mine but I gave it button eyes and stitched it a mouth. It's my sock zombie.

Love this, I'm always looking for a way to use up socks. My husband and son get through no end of the things. If I don't tell her where the material for the gloves comes from I might even get my daughter to wear them!

VERY AWESOME
i wear the big toes of my right feet out really quick, and i collect cute socks, so it's really upsetting when i can't wear them anymore 'cos of the huge holes.
but this way i can keep the cute patterns and actually make them useful! :D
