robot brooch
my daughter complained she didn't have a felt brooch and requested a robot - which was good 'cause i wanted to try one out anyhow!

    Step 1

    draw your design onto card & cut out - i always use cereal packets!
    trace round card shape onto your grey felt & cut out.

    cut out small rectangle of black felt for "control panel" add trimmings - i used a red heart brad, a tiny button and two parts of sew on snaps.
    then sew control panel onto robots body - i used three strands of red embroidery thread and used blanket stitch.

    next sew on two parts of snap fastener for eyes and a loop from a hook & loop fastener for a mouth {i openened mine up a little}

    now you need to cut out two slightly larger bodies out of black felt - i drew around my original template onto the felt using a white jellyroll pen then left a seam allowance - you can cut out the back roughly at this stage.
    cut one robot out of card - same size as grey robot.

    Step 5

    using a small piece of double-sided tape i attached grey robot to black body - then blanket stitched in red aroud whole outline of grey robot,next i added detail to his legs.

    Step 6

    sew on a safety pin to other black body - i used more double-sided to stick card body and black back piece to the front then trimmed back to size and blanket stitched in black to complete the brooch.
