Rich n tasty Birthday cake
 <  Image 1 of 2  >

I had a sudden inspiration to attempt a 16 cake in figures.
I had never attempted before and tried to make it quick and easy for myself.

I hope you try it out and agree, cutting the numbers was a little fiddly.

  1. Step 1

Line you cake tins and turn your oven on to warm up.

  2. Step 2

Choose your favorite sponge cake recipe, mix and cook as your recipe says.
I used our loved chocolate fudge cake recipe.

Pour half the mixture into 1 tin and the other half in the 2nd tin. Bake.

  3. Step 3

Leave to cool for 5 mins in the tins then carefully turn out to cool on wire trays.

Mix together your filling, I used our chocolate fudge filling.

  4. Step 4

Once cakes are cool, draw your numbers onto the baking paper.

Place the paper on top of the cake, hold in place and using a small sharp knife carefully cut out both numbers from one sponge.

Then repeat again with the 2nd sponge.

  5. Step 5

Place on set of numbers onto your cake board and carefully cover with some of your filling.

Very carefully place the other set of numbers ontop. Press down lightly.

  6. Step 6

    Now to decorate!

I added more filling over the top and sprinkled over some dark chocolate chips.

Be warned it is very rich!
