I made several of these clothespin bags last summer, sold some and gave some as gifts. I found the pattern in a very old magazine from the thrift store. Sorry I don't have a pdf pattern, don't know how to do that yet.
Hope you like my creation.

This is the body, you need 2 of these
-
10
This is the skirt folded in half, cut 1 on the fold
The other piece is top facing, cut 1 reverse and cut 1 more you need 2 of these
-
11
This is the back facing, cut 1
the other is the waistband, cut 1
-
12
lay back facing on top of one body and sew across the top
-
13
flip this facing to other side and press
-
14
The 2 l-shaped pieces go on the other body piece as pictured, butting each close to the center.I usually press the body piece at the fold to get a straight line.
Sew ONLY across the top and down the center on each piece
-
15
-
16
Now cut down the middle between the facings down to the end and make 2 small clips at that end so it will lay smooth when you turn it.
Clip the corners and turn to right side and press.
-
17
Next open out the skirt piece and sew small hem at one long end and both short sides
-
18
Gather top of skirt and pin to body front straight across right at bottom of split.Sew all the way across.
-
19
Waistband...press up about 1/2" on each long edge
-
20
Pin waistband across over the gathered edge and sew down both sides.
Pin the bottom of skirt up out of the way and lay back body piece over front body piece and pin all the way around, being careful not to pin skirt.
Sew all the way around starting at shoulder where the two tops meet, about 3 1/2" from end of the sleeve.
Clip curves
-
21
Turn bag right side out, fold down the facings, attach a button to each side and you're done!

Thinking of enlarging the pattern and using it for plastic bags! Think I need to mail you for the pattern though, since my free-hand is not the best :)
Many thanks!

Would anybody here who's made this adorable project be willing to copy their pattern and send one to me + directions? I'm pretty "figure it out on your own" impaired. Will pay s/h etc. :)

Hi Marian,
I have been looking for this, for a long time. I was given one as a gift, and have been hoping that I would not have to tear it apart to make one. I am having problems making out your pieces, and how to draw them out. Would I be able to send you postage, if you might be able to draw them out for me? I usually draw my own patterns also, on grocery bags.

I made this Little Dress Clothes Pin Bag and I had a little trouble understanding the instructions as they are soo hard to see for an old bag like me. I winged mine and it came out pretty good if I say so myself. I'm going to make a few more to give as gifts and such. I can't tell if you have the skirt sewn on just the front or not, it looks like you do. I made mine so the skirt and waistband goes all the way around the body and I didn;t make the bottom of the body round. I just left it the way it was and then sturned it wrong side out after stitching on the skirt and stitched the bottom closed. They can be used for just about any thing you want t oput in them. Even those placstic grocery bags. LOL! Well take care and have a great day and thanks for the pattern. Huggies, Fay P.

I love this project! Congratulations on being so original! :)
I was wondering if it wouldn't have been a bit better to include your measuring/instruction information in the description area of each step....
