Japanese Elaborate Hairstyle Tutorial
This is my original pattern of apprentice geish (maiko). I diagrammed the entire process of the doll from head to toe.Some of the things that distinguish a Maiko from a Geisha are the red juban (undergarment), the extremely long kimono sleeves and the hairstyle. It took me a while to create the elaborate hairstyle (Wareshinobu). They were really fun to make and I loved making the hair accessories.

You Will Need

Step 1Enlarge to see descriptions in the picture.

Step 2Cut a piece of 3.5cm x 3cm black paper. Roll it up and glue across the forehead.

Step 3Cut a leaf share and glue to the center to create a pointed hairline.

Step 4Glue hair to the back and crimp it to add volume.

Step 5Cover the scalp with more black paper.

Step 6Wrap scrap paper in black paper to make a bun.
I'm really in oragami amd Japanese paper dolls!
