Eiffel Tower Light Lamp

  • Completed Project: Eiffel Tower Light Lamp Picture #1

A bright idea for using those giant drink containers.

On their trip to Las Vegas, my parents bought me back a giant Eiffel Tower cup that held a drink at the time. Since I like things that involve Paris, they kept it for me to use. I created a light/lamp out of it using only a few materials, and you can probably create any kinda of lamp or decoration piece using these giant drink containers you can find pretty much at any attraction or place.

  1. Step 1

    Step 1

First, you need to wash and dry all the remains of the drink from your container. Make sure that its completely dry and clean before you put electrical stuff in it. :]
Then you simply poke a hole near the base of the container. Just enough space so you can fit your light strand into, so you can run it to your outlet.

  2. Step 2

    Step 2

Since the container was a cup, the top part of the eiffel tower comes off, so i just placed the light strand in there and ran it up the body of the tower. And don't forget to pull the end strand/outlet plug out through the hole of the base! Then you pretty much place the lights wherever; just try not to get it too close the edge of the plastic. I used these LCD lights that won't damage the plastic around it, but i also don't get to light it up that often, but it does work.

  3. Step 3

    Step 3

Once you have place your light strand into the eiffel tower, run the light up so that go up the body of the tower. Since there was a hole at the top of the piece for a straw, i just used that to string through one last bulb, lighting the top of the tower. Of course by then you have placed the top piece of the tower back on to complete it.
And that's it! you just find the nearest outlet and plug it in! It looks great light up. And not only is it a lamp, but it's also a great decoration piece. And you can do this with any of those giant drink containers you see at amusement parks/fairs/wherever. Hope you enjoy!

Very pretty, I'd love to see how it looks when it's all lit up in the dark.

well, i tried to take of pic of it lit up with my room lights turned off, but my digital camera wanted to light the room up automatically. i probably just have to change the flash, but it's a new camera so as soon as i figure it out, i'll try to take another pic. :]
