fun and colorful slippers- how to
 <  Image 1 of 3  >

I wear these all the time. As of now they're only for indoors, and about once every two weeks I throw them in the washing machine.

This is my first pattern, so sorry if it doesn't make perfect sense. Please feel free to message me if you need help with specifics in this.

Finished size fits foot sizes 8-10 (probably more, though, too, as it stretches).

hints:
-crochet in steps at the same time (do both soles, then both sides, then both tops), in case you need to make changes
-especially when doing the sides, use a stitch marker to help you remember which round you're on

hook: H-8 (5mm)

stitches used:
ch
sc
2sctog

  1. Step 1

    (sole of the slipper)
    ch 9
    row 1: sc8, ch1, turn (8 sts)
row 2: 2sc in first sc, sc in next 6 sc, 2sc in last sc, ch1, turn(10 sts)
row 3: 2sc in first sc, sc in next 8, 2 sc in last sc, ch1, turn (12 sts)
rows 4-11: sc in ea sc, ch1, turn (12 sts)
row 12: 2sctog in first sc, sc in next 8 sc, 2sctog in last sc, ch1, turn (10 sts)
rows 13-20: sc in ea sc, ch1, turn (10 sts)
row 21: 2sc in first sc, sc in next 8 sc, 2 sc in last sc, ch1, turn (12 sts)
rows 22-26: sc in ea sc, ch1, turn (12 sts)
row 27: 2sc in first sc, sc in next 10 sc, 2 sc in next sc, ch1, turn (14 sts)
rows 28-29: sc in ea sc, ch1, turn (14 sts)
row 30: 2sc in first sc, 12 sc, 2 sc in next sc, ch1, turn (16 sts)
rows 31-37: sc in ea sc, ch1, turn (16 sts)
row 38: 2sctog in first sc, 12 sc, 2sctog in last sc, ch1, turn (14 sts)
rows 39-40: sc in ea sc (14 sts)
row 41: 2sctog in first sc, 10 sc, 2sctog in last sc, ch1, turn (12 sts)
row 42: 2sctog in first sc, 8 sc, 2sctog in last sc, ch1, turn (10 sts)
row 43: sc in ea sc, ch1, turn (10 sts)
    row 44: 2sctog in first sc, 6 sc, 2sctog in last sc,(8sts)
Now sc around the posts of the sole that you've made. Do 2 sc instead of 1 sc in each corner so that it doesn't curl and keeps its shape.

  2. Step 2

(sides of the slipper) [worked in rounds, don't turn]
row 1: sc in the back of each ea sc around the slipper (aprox. 95 sts)
rows 2-8: sc in ea sc (aprox. 95 sts)
row 9: *sc in 9 sc, 2sctog** repeat from * to ** until the end of the round(aprox 88 sts) [don't fasten off]

  3. Step 3

(tongue of slipper) [This is going to look funny because it won't be attached to the sides yet. Don't worry, we'll get there.]
row 1: sc 5 [continuing in the same direction as you were going with the rounds for the sides], ch1, turn (10 sts)
row 2: sc in ea sc (10 sts)
row 3: 2 sc in first sc, sc in next 8, 2 sc in last sc, ch1, turn (12 sts)
rows 4-7: sc in ea sc (12 sts)
row 8: 2 sc in first sc, sc in next 10 sc, 2 sc in last sc, ch1, turn (14 sts)
row 9-20: sc in ea sc, ch1, turn (14 sts)
row 21: sc in ea sc, bind off (14 sts)

  4. Step 4

(attaching the tongue to the sides of the slipper)
Go back to where you started the tongue. Sl st the tongue to the sides of the slippers. This creates the raised ridges on the sides.
