Photoshop way of creating stencils without the long winded process
I used this to make a stencil of my budgie for my homemade screenprinting kit for a college project. Enjoy

  • Step 1

    Open up the file you want into Photoshop

  • Step 2

    Duplicate the background layer into a new layer and the select the Magnetic Lasso Tool

  • Step 3

    Draw round the image and then right click in the selection you just did and select 'Layer Via Copy'.

  • Step 4

    Delete the other layers and tidy up the edges using the 'Rubber' tool

  • Step 5

    Go to the top bar, select; Filter - Artistic - Layout

  • Step 6

    Enter these details;
    Number of levels = 4
    Edge Simplicity = 4
    Edge Fidelity = 1

  • Step 7

    Click okay and Voila. . . Just print and use how you wish
