Add all the dry ingredients to the mug,and mix well.

Add the egg and mix thoroughly.

Pour in the milk and oil and mix well.
Add the chocolate chips (if usuing) and vanilla extract. Mix again.

Put your mug in the microwave and cook for 3 minutes at 1000 wats on high.
The cake will rise way over the top of the mug, but don't be alarmed! It'll go back down in a little bit.

Allow it to cool a bit, and tip it out onto a plate if you want.

And why is this the most dangerous cake recipe in the world?
Because now we are only 5 minutes away from chocolate cake at any time of the day or night!

man, really?
did you do it exactly like it says?
let me know how it goes if you try
it again.
& yes, i will admit this
isn't the most lucious, moist, most
amazing million dollar cake ever made,
but its pretty good for being made in
5 minutes, wouldn't you agree? [:

My first try set fire on the inside... or it just burnt but I kept hitting it with a spoon and the smoke wouldn't disperse oO" My second try rose way over the top but tasted okay I guess for being made in five minutes ^_^. It was real fun to try though my mum kept laughing at me and made me clean the mess :( Nice how-to but I'd rather buy an instant cake kit

I made one, and my dad told me Chris Evans made them on his show recently!!! Cool, huh?!
This is the recipe he suggests, they seem to work :)
Ingredients
• 4 tbs / 45 gms self raising flour
• 4 tbs / 55gms caster sugar
• 2 tbs / 17gms cocoa powder
• 1 egg
• 3 tbs / 43 mls milk
• 3 tbs / 25 mls sunflower oil
• 3 tablespoons chocolate chips (optional)
• A small dash of vanilla extract
• 1 large coffee mug
• Double cream or creme fraiche - optional for serving
Method
1. Add dry ingredients to the mug, and mix well.
2. Add the egg and mix thoroughly
3. Add the milk and oil - mix well (don't forget the corners / edges of the mug).
4. Add the chocolate chips (if using) and vanilla extract, and mix again
5. Put your mug in the microwave and cook for 3 minutes (in a 1000 watt microwave).
6. The cake will rise above the top of the mug, but don't worry it’s supposed to!
7. Allow to cool a little, tip out onto a plate.
Enjoy!!! xxx

I make this cake - it's fantastic!
I can be a piglet and eat it all myself, or divide it into 2 when cooked & serve up with icecream.
Yummo.
I tried it once with the choc chips - but it didn't taste any different - so I just use extra strong cocoa for that real chocolately taste!

Thanks for this intriguing recipe! Just tried to make it using an 800 watt microwave, with mixed success. It was cakey and fairly edible, but dry - probably my fault, as I added an extra 30 seconds cooking time to account for the wattage. I also wonder if the width of the mug makes a difference; mine was tall and narrow, so maybe a wider mug would keep it more moist. I added a bit of cinnamon, which in retrospect may have been a mistake as it interfered with the chocolateyness. I'm definitely going to try again another time (but maybe when there's someone around to help me eat it - it was a bit too much for me to manage on my own)!

Just whipped this up and shared with Mom. Besides the obvious goodness that is chocolate it was very fun to just mix up while chatting with Mom. Next time will use heaping tbsp of sugar though...seemed to need just a smidge more. Thanks for posting, and thanks to karma for letting me find it today!! :o)

My 11 year old son tried this tonight and it worked! He enjoyed the whole mug-cake himself. Plans for next time: do the mixing outside the mug and pour half / half into two cups - it is quiet a lot for one person.

Mine came out almost soggy and my micowave is 800. Strange.
I think it may have been because i put the milk ontop of the dry ingredients and left it for probably an hour (made dinner)
Will definately try this again :D
Thanks

LOL sorry about the last comment. I was amazed by your upside down username. anyways. I LOVED IT. I accidentally cooked it for 30 more seconds. It is a little dry and plain, but for almost $0 and 5 mins it it so worth it.
Next time i will add more normal sugar (not powdered LOL) and top it off with chocolate sauce that was hiding in my fridge when i first made it.
Overall the directions are FAB and i will forever make this... >XD

22 Aug 12:53
Oh this was hilarious. It didn't taste -great-, pretty dry and definitely needed icecream, but it was fun to watch it explode in my microwave, salvage it and polish it off. :P Probably a one time dessert I'd say...Easy to make though! Also ensure you have a giant mug, evidently I was underendowed. :P
And Jocelyn, no that wouldn't work. :(

Sooo.. I made it a few minutes ago. It was pretty okay, but quite spongy and a little dry. With ice-cream I think it would be a lot better, but not bad like this either. (: Thanks for the recipe!
