Dollarstore Swap (suggestion)
THIS IS NOT AN ACTUAL SWAP,JUST A SUGGESTION!
In almost every country there is something like a Dollarstore (I saw Euroshops in France and Holland, there are Poundshops in UK and so on.).
The point of this swap would be buying something from the dollarstore, and sending it to another person, and vice versa. The goal is to make something from the item you received how cool is that?
I'm thinking 'before and after' pics on CO+K creations...
So,what d'you think?
Of course,we have to define 'somwething' but I think you get the general idea..
Hmmm. Interesting....
Would the aforementioned something be from the crafting aisle (our local Poundland actually has some pretty decent craft stuff at times) ?
Although the devil part of me is tempted by the idea of supplying something downright ridiculous, so they REALLY have to think about it!
Alternatively, you could buy 2 identical items, make your partner something fabulous from one and challenge them to make something different from the other. Possibly even send the one they make back to you!?
Aww I dont have dollar stores (stupid Hawaii) But it sounds like a neat idea!
Heather:I was actually thinking about more random stuff like kids cutlery or artificial flowers...that's more challenging!
Pammerz: Too bad! But I'm sure there are some nifty dollarstore-alike shops around your area
Good Good!! That was what I was hoping!! ;P
haha I really like this idea.
I'm always going to the dollar stores for random stuff I need and I love them! If one doesn't have what I need or something similar, the other ones do.
I like the idea of something of sending something completely random, but personally I don't know if I would like to get anything too ridiculous. For example.. kids cutlery. There's nothing I can think of (at all) that I can make/do with them where I'd actually like it and want to keep it. But something more practical.. like a glass plate or a random figurine to paint and decorate to look how I want. Eventhough the point is to have a challenge. I dunno. :S
I don't want to sound too picky or anything but this could be the case for many people and many different things.
I think it is a very different idea and it might be at least a lot of fun! Isn't that what we all do something ... FUN!
Sally M : heat the plastic cutlery and make a bangle!
@Scharminkeltje: I was going to suggest something similar, but a little different. It started with the Destash swap - every time I receive stash from somebody, I have the urge to make something out of the stash I receive and send it back. So maybe we could fix a value (say, everybody sends stash for 2 dollars or so) and the person who receives the stash makes something out of it and sends it back to the original sender. Hope I'm making sense.
This way people leaving in countries where you don't have dollar stores could participate too. I.e. here in Italy we have Eurostores, but stuff you can find there is, well, crap. I bought thread once from an Eurostore and regretted it so much when my whole project fell apart. Fixing a value would allow anybody to send something they have lying around that doesn't exceed that limit, or buy within the limit at regular craft stores.
@Pammerz: I even thought about coupling this swap with a regular destash swap and leaving it optional: I send my stash to you, and if you want you can make something out of it and send it back to me. Could even work coupled to a matchbox swap! ^___^
I really don't know. I'm open to all possibilites. Any ideas?
I like that Idea mary!
Hmmmnnn...I like Mary's idea too.
I guess i'll be signing up for both swaps....
liking the idea
Mary, your idea is way better than mine! So...maybe you'll host the swap this time ?
Why, thank you *blush*. ^__^°°
Of course I'd gladly host this swap. I have a lot going on right now, but I've checked the board and seen nobody has yet posted a swap with sendout date past the August the 31st, so this is going to be the first swap with a September sendout date.
Alright, I'm posting this on the board right now! Let's see whos' up for it ^___^
I'm calling it... the STASH AND CRAFT SWAP
