I had an allergic reaction to the tablets =(

Was woken up yesterday to crippling pain in my kidneys, spent the whole morning in pain and feeling like I was going to vomit. I've stopped taking them because my earring infection has gone away (only cause I keep getting prescribed different things!) but I'm screwed if I need to take antibiotics again, which I'm sure I will. I hate compromising my morals but I've always said that health should come first (which is why I won't let my friend go vegetarian because she's underweight enough already), so if I really needed to take antibiotics I'd have to go for the gelatin ones. Sucky!

Taxidermy scares me, there's loads in the Bristol museum and it really upsets me. But I don't like anything dead really. Roadkill especially bothers me, there was a dead fox at the end of my road for ages, only a baby one and it was all crushed except it's head, it was horrible. We called the people to clean it up but they didn't come for two days and it had been raining *shudders*

Can you not get the antibiotic in liquid form? When I was younger I couldn't/wouldn't swallow the big tablets I had to take, so they prescribed me the liquid form.

Oh no KK! Least it's better now.

I once saw a dead bat, it was in my street and we rolled it into the field that used to be in the street with a stick not very dignified but we didnt want to leave it where it was. It was horrible but quite interesting because usually you just see bats as all black flying around. In Bolton museum there is an elephants head.

Aw Kk! I hope you feel better really soon, and don't see any dead animals either!

Oh no, that's awful. Glad it's okay.

Yeah next time I need them for whatever I'll see if I can get the liquid one. It's annoying because my infection has started coming back already, but I can't go and get something new because I don't want to be taking anything at Download (cause it'll mean I can't drink!)

Awwh, infected piercings suck Happy Pick yourself up some saline for contact lenses and just cotton bud any piercings you have every day, prevention is better than the cure! Next time you need to get meds though, get your prescription from here - http://www.chemistdirect.co.uk/ So much cheaper!

OMG i can't believe I didn't think about this! salt and warm water is ace for peircings. If it's the second time you've had that peircing (can't remember which is it or if you said) the scar tissue caused by it already being peirced once before can get infected easily and more often then the first time round.

Oooh really, is that why? That makes sense, it's just where I got it done last time. Hmm, helpful. Just sucks cause I want the other side done in the same place, but in that case I'd have the same problems.

Saline, eh? I use this stuff the piercists gave me which is 5% tea tree oil in almond oil. They said you shouldn't really use the chemical stuff like they give you in Claire's.

Thanks for the tips Alex, I get it free anyway cause I'm under 18 and in full-time education, but that's great advice.

The infection actually is clearing up now, thank god. Still a bit sore but it's less visible

salt water!!!! *runs around waving arms* I've had my ears done at claire's every time. 4 times, 3 times in first lobe piercings, kept having to take them out cuz of school and such, no problems with infections but when i got my seconds done they swelled up bad! I swapped the earrings to hoops and that didnt make much of a difference and I went to the doctors and he said they weren't infected but they were puffy and hot so I gave up with my seconds. Claire's use guns that are part plastic which means they can't be steralised properly so collect more dirt the best way to get any peircing done is with needles, but I tend to faint with needles so I'm just sticking to my first peircings and belly button. I want my nose done though Happy but I'll just faint. Btw if anyone comes near you with a gun to peirce anything other then your ears, leave.

No problem ^_^
Salt water (saline) is awesome suff. Queenfairypants - You are very very right about avoiding piercers who use guns! You can only really safely use them on ear lobes (and ONLY lobes, cartlidge can shatter under the force). I used to work in a piercers/tattooists so i know a fair bit about this stuff Happy Also, you shouldn't be scared of getting pierced with needles! It's frightening just to think about (I still get scared ;D) But it is so so SO much less painful than gun piercing!

I'm not scared of needles I just faint every time I get something done that isn't my ears, it never even hurts me that much either! Happy Also I'm one of those people who always has tissues at the ready I've either got hayfever or a cold or it just runs anyway! And I've got a bit of a nervous twitch like I'll itch my nose so I'll end up ripping it out by accident!

When I was going to get pierced for the first time after my horrific thing at age seven or so, I did loads of research and found that needles are much safer cause they can be sterilised more easily, and because they're bigger than the earring, there's room for swelling, whereas with a gun obviously the hole is exactly the same size as the earring!

I'm terrified of them too, the last piercist I had was great though and when I started panicking she helped me to breathe slowly so I wouldn't faint and got me to breathe out as she pushed it in

I can still remember getting my ears pierced at 4!!! I howled down the jewellers!
I got the top of my ear done with a gun and had so much trouble with it! Never again. My lip was needle done and so was my belly button, so little pain, although the guy did my lip crooked.

the lip guy for me didn't manage to put it straight through in one aaaand I fainted right in front of the bit where you pay! last peircing lasted a month! so probably why I can't be bothered with anything else apart from another tattoo.
