Scrap Projects

I have a lot of charm-pack sized fabric squares (5"x5") and right now I do not have the patience for hand sewing a quilt. I don't really have ideas to use them for Christmas projects and could use some help. They are mostly denim and knitwear, as well as some actual quilting fabric. I'm thinking stocking stuffers for whoever I run into, and maybe some bigger things for family members who don't really have gift preferences.

Here's a selection of projects I've found that use small amounts of fabric:

Pieces of knitwear can be felted and used to make phone/gadget covers or purses/wallets. You can also make felted flowers and attach them to brooch pins or hair slides (or wire/sticks to make an arrangement).

Hope some of these ideas are useful.

dottee dolls?
sew a few of them together to make cushion covers?
make clothes for a small doll?
stuffed stars/hearts, either one piece of fabric for each side or both out of the one piece. stars are xmassy. if you added a hook to the top of the star people could hang it somewhere.

I'm thinking coasters. Not hotpads because the fabric would have to be cotton or wool because synthetics would melt under the heat. But coasters would be awesome. Actually I am planning on making some out of salvage clothing, jeans and tshirts, stuff like that. I was thinking of stacking say tshirt material,...you said you had some knit squares....maybe that would be close to the same effect....sew them on the right sides leaving the edges non-finished. Also jean material would work but you'd have to pick the threads of the edges to get a nice fray going on. You could do them in coordinatin colors and prints and stack them together and tie ribbon or a scrap of fabric around them and TA DA nice little gift. Would be a nice hostess gift, I think.
Here's another idea. Make yo-yos and fabric roses out of them and make them into pins and keychains, hair clips, etc...you could embelish them with beads, glitter...whatever. And it wouldn't be a lot of work. My kind of crafting, lol.
One more idea. You could make bracelets and necklaces out of them. I think there are several projects on this site of those ruffle necklaces that are so popular. For a bracelet, I'm thinking you gather a piece of material into a ruffle..you could use elastic to do that then just have the elastic long enough that it sticks out of both ends of the ruffle a few inches. Just sew the elastic band together and instant and very hip bracelet.
I think I just dated myself by saying hip. Oh, well, showing my age again, lol.
Hope I helped.

Thank you guys. I've got tons of stuff to make now.

The fabrics are all cotton, like you said Dar, like t-shirt and denim.

Yo-yo's were really popular during the depression because you only need a tiny circle of fabric. they are also super easy to make.
