Come behind the scenes at Whisk 'Em for a #CraftRoomTour and see Bonnie's sewing corner in Mesa, Arizona.

I actually love that it's all in a small space because it forces me to stay organized and put things away!

Tell us about your space

My sewing space currently resides in a shadowy corner of my family room in the basement. This room also functions as a homeschool room, play room and media room…so it is FULL. We’ve got 2 full bookcases, 2 long Ikea tables, 6 chairs, a gigantic sectional, a school supply/toy closet and fabric closet. It’s a hot mess but it allows me to be close to the little kids while I sew which ensures that I get a lot more creating done than if it was all in a separate room! I mostly do sewing here but I also have a desk space in my kitchen where I blog and do some paper crafts.

What have you done to make your space cosy, beautiful or inspiring?

I love hanging and displaying beautiful artwork and quotes from other small shops. I also recently purchased a pretty shelf, organizational buckets and other decorative elements to make it feel like it was decorated purposely instead of haphazardly! My favorite part is probably the collage of magazine cutouts I keep within eyesight to inspire me to sew something beautiful!

How do you keep organized?

I have 2 sets of Ikea drawers to organize my patterns, notions and other tools. I keep my fabric in a separate space: a closet under my basement stairs. I have really loved using the little white buckets behind my machines to organize scissors, pens, pencils and other necessities. This way my tools stay in sight but out of reach of children's curious fingers!

Any tips & tricks for organising supplies?

Ikea's kitchen & office departments have oodles of supplies and tricks for organizing things! I love the way they make use of wall space in their kitchens in order to best utilize a tiny area.

Which are your favourite possessions and are there any of your own creations on display?

I really enjoy all the decorative elements of my space - artwork, quotes and pretty fabric on display inspires me every day! I do have one painting on display that I painted myself. I'd love to do more!

How do you organise your inspiration and ideas?

I have a running list on my phone of projects I want to make and I love looking at magazines for ideas which I then cut out and tape to a board behind my sewing machines. I also have a secret pinterest board where I pin my favorite inspiration from online sources. Recently I purchased a pretty wire basket to keep on my desk where I store my favorite inspirational fabrics...these are fabrics I usually bought for a specific purpose and don't want to forget about!

Where do you look for inspiration?

Style and fashion blogs, my favorite clothing magazines (Nordstrom, Boden, J Crew and Anthropologie) and Pinterest!

If you had three wishes, what would you do to make it the dream space?

1. I would have my own room with a locking door :) but I would also share the room with my older children to inspire creativity in them as well.
2. I would have a very LARGE cutting table in the center of the room so that I never have to cut out another pattern on the floor.
3. I would have my fabrics and patterns stored prettily but on full display so that nothing ever gets forgotten!
