Dami Lee is a cartoonist lady person for places like Buzzfeed, LINE Webtoon, and GoComics.com. She also draws a webcomic at Hotcomics.biz with writer Brandon Sheffield. She loves 90's R&B jams, snacking aggressively, and animals who think they're people. She is Seoul-born, California-raised, and New York-struggling on a daily basis.

Have you always been creative and artistic?

When I was little, I wanted to be a cartoonist in the same way that kids want to be astronauts when they grow up, or batman. I'd always loved drawing but never really thought of it as a career option. I went to UC San Diego to study Communication and Political Science, a decision I still don't really understand to this day. I started drawing comics for the school newspaper, and discovered I was happiest when I was making something.

How would you describe the style of your work?

My tagline on my facebook page is, "Comics that make you say 'What is this' and 'I'm unfollowing." Which is a joke!!!! It's a joke. Please don't unfollow me.

What’s in your pencil case and what’s your favorite tool?

I work all digitally- so a Wacom pen and tablet! I'm useless without Ctrl+z.

Who is your favorite superhero?

I grew up watching Anpanman (Or Hoppangman, as he's known in Korean), so he's a very nostalgic character for me. His head is literally a pastry, so his special power is healing injured people by giving them a piece of his bread head.

If you could have one super power what would it be?

The power to stop time. I feel like I never have enough hours in a day to do the things I want to do!

Where do you look for inspiration?

I follow a lot of designers and illustrators on social media like Tumblr, Twitter and Instagram. I think Vine has also elevated the 6 second video into an art form. People are so talented it's crazy.

Who are your favorite artists or comic book authors?

Perry Bible Fellowship by Nick Gurewitch is my all-time favorite comic. I also love reading Korean webtoons like Yameyori and Yumi's cells. Poorly Drawn Lines, Owlturd comics and Books of Adam are amazing as well.
