When did you first get in to cooking and do you remember the first recipe you tried?
I've been cooking since I was a little kid. I can't be certain, but I think the first thing I started making from a recipe was cookies! I loved to make vanilla treat cookies.
What's your kitchen like and how do you keep organized when cooking?
TINY! My in-laws are in the campground business and own a KOA. After I married my husband, we bought and moved into a 5th wheel camper to live in while we save money for our first house! So needless to say, we're in a small space right now! It does make it more of a challenge for cooking, but I've had to get creative and strategic about how and when I shop to I have room for all my pantry items and storage!
What tips would you give to someone wanting to become a better cook?
Stop buying processed or pre-made food items. When I took this step it was a challenge at first, to make everything myself from the raw scratch ingredients, but it really taught me exactly what goes into everything and gave me a firm grasp on cooking such a wide variety of things. It has helped me grow my skills so much!
Who would you invite to your dream dinner party and what would you cook for them?
I'm a major family person, and my family is spread out all over the country. I'm in Tennessee, my parents and mom's family are in Virginia, my dad's family is in Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Massachusetts, and my sister is in Alaska! I would get everyone I love together and have a giant party. I would serve yummy comfort food. Probably something italian!
Do you do any other crafts and what are your hobbies?
Yes! I love doing crafts- mostly things that can be used for adorable home decor or Christmasy things. Christmas makes me want to make crafts. My other hobbies are photography and design, and hiking!
Which cooking blogs do you love to read?
One I always find myself on is www.scratchmommy.com
Her blog is a mix of DIY from scratch health and beauty products as well as recipes which is why I love it. I'm into both of those things!
