You could make a ice treasure hunt. What you do is have a container of some sort, and put prizes in. Do it in layers, it takes along time though so its more fun if you want to play it. Get mini shovels, some salt, things like that to try and dig out the trickets. I'm posting one if you don't understand what I meanHappy

Its more of a game then a craft. You'd have to make it before you go over.

just make sure she doesnt eat the salt dough--but duh, you already knew that. :-D

i think the salt dough is a great idea! i actually loved making it when i was that age, and it was even more fun with food coloring added. im sure my mother didnt share my enthusiasm when cleaning the mess, however. ;)

i was going to suggest making something FOR the child, until i read the rest of the post, so unfortunately, i really have nothing more to add.

My daughter is almost three, and she's happy with a pack of pipe cleaners/chenille stems. Play Doh is the hottest of commodities at this age, and either the salt dough, or an edible peanut butter play dough would be ideal.
PEANUT BUTTER PLAYDOUGH FOR LACTOSE
INTOLERANT

1/2 cup peanut butter
1/4 cup honey
4-6 oz. corn flour or corn meal

Combine together peanut butter and honey. Add the corn flour until it reaches the desired consistency.

I came up with this idea after finding recipes only using dried milk but had a very lactose intolerant child in my class. In my opinion this recipe tastes better than the recipe using dried milk.

Note: Corn muffin mix (like Jiffy-Mix) can be substituted for corn meal.

I like making memory boxes one for last Christmas and one for next years wishes to fill.
Use a Glue stick left over christmas paper and junk mail will help for images. If you have access to a printer make some contact pictures of activities from this holiday season.
Let her cover the box .Make pages to go in the box.Draw a picture to be included.
It's really fun to explore what kids remember and what their wishes are even at this age.
Have fun and enjoy the fun of discovery :0)
