Magazine clutch

I've wanted to make one of these for years! They're so cute!! I love how they look like a rolled up magazine.

Iv'e tried to figure my way around not using a shell, but I don't think I can go without it.
Problem is, I can't seem to find one anywhere without buying it online. ):

What about buying a second hand clutch from ebay or in a charity/thrift store? You could use it as a shell - maybe?
