New marketing ideas?

Lately I have had a hard time selling my soaps. Since Tophatter is now invite-only my ability to make any money there has almost completely diminished. I've had a hard time scheduling enough even though I have priority scheduling.
Etsy has been very slow this year as I have only made 3 sales there since January. I have had a couple custom orders but it hasn't been enoughto pay the bills.
I have used Facebook to make a few sales but no matter how many promos I try to run, not many people seem interested. I even have a 23% off code on Etsy and not a single person has taken advantage of it.
I need a new way to promote myself that doesn't require lots of money.
Year to year I don't make enough to claim for taxable income and I'm fine with that, but I can't afford to have a slow summer this year.
I sell soaps on Etsy and fb and use fb to market and try to boost sales.
I would love some advice on what I could maybe do better. www.facebook.com/discordiasapple is my fb page and it links to my Etsy shop.

Thanks in advance for any advice!

The labels look good and your prices seem pretty fair ( I didn't look at shipping though)Maybe you should think about making some DIY business cards and stickers and leave them at some health food stores, book stores, coffee shops etc. You could make a few small samples too just so ppl can get a better idea of your products. You could really sell a lot of your stuff at the renaissance festival.

I already make my business cards on my own. I didn't think about making stickers before. I mean, I make them for my small shopping bags I give to people when they buy a bar or two from a craft fair, but never thought of just making them to give away.

I just bought a mold to make samples so we'll see if that helps. I've never sold at a Ren Fair before, I might have to look into that some more. I have left my business cards at a few places before but it never seemed to help.

good luckHappyI think the fair would be your best bet bc there are so many people there to begin with who really like that type of stuff (myself included)last year I got a dragon's blood shea butter lotion candle and it's lasted a while. The lady who sold it to me had her # and website on the candle's label so even though I have no idea where her card is anymore I still have her info.

Hm.. Well, I always do put my shop name on my labels and I typically send out 3 business cards with every order.
The hardest thing I run across though is trying to get people to *take* my business cards at a craft fair. Usually, people just look at one and put it back into the stack. ._.

now anyone can join TH, altho good luck trying to schedule an item!! effing ridiculous now, and the TH staff are so arrogant!
personally i think that soaps and edibles are better bought in person, that way you can smell them and taste them first.
put business cards into the box/bag/packaging at the fair, or walk around handing them out, or ask a friend to do it for you if you are at your stall. what about giving out samplers of the soap with the offcuts? or selling them as a sample pack? and shove in business cards everywhere.

Yeah, the one problem with selling soaps online is that no one can smell them. I mean, it's easier to know what it smells like when you know the difference between fragrance oil and essential oil, but not many people do.

Every time I have a craft sale and someone buys something, I put 3 business cards in the bag--one for them and two to hand out to friends.

I do need to make a batch of soap to cut into sample bars, but picking a good enough size for a sample bar is going to be tricky. I suppose enough for 1 shower is a good enough sample. I've been meaning to make sample packs for a while that have a tiny soap bar and a sample of bath salts or something. The only thing that's going to take time and a bit more money is packaging the sample bits.

have you tried adding what i believe are called "soap savers"? where u put the soap in them, wet them and wash with them. they could be knitted, crocheted or sewn.

I haven't, but the problem with anything like that that gets wet is that it stays wet and attracts bacteria and mold so I've always been a bit iffy about them. I also can't crochet or knit. I can sew though.
I don't really want to sell soapsavers though... just soaps. Lol

is that only handmade soaps that stay wet? personally ive never used them, someone suggested to me that i make them, im not sure if u leave the soap in them until u use them next or not

Most soap savers are meant to keep soap inside, usually little chunks of soap that are hard to bathe with. All soaps will stay wet if you keep moisture around them... like if more than 2 showers or baths happen in one tub per day, soap will typically stay wet and get soft.

When stuff stays wet, it tends to attract fungi and bacteria.
