Tophatter!

Pamela introduced me to Tophatter a couple weeks ago, and I am in love with the place now!
It's been a great outlet for me to sell my discontinued glycerin soaps and jewelry. I think I've made about $40 or so there since I started listing auctions. It's been a nice boost!

Check it out at www.tophatter.com

You'll get a $5 credit just for signing up, so when you bid on something you'll be paying $5 less than the bid amount if you win.
If you're like me and don't have much luck selling on Etsy or Facebook, Tophatter is definitely worth a try.

Not bad for a phone camera. The color seems a bit off for the white though but it's sharper than I expected.

thanks, the white is the only plain white thing i have in my house at the moment: the toilet lid.

Tophatter doesn't seem to work with what I sell very well. The issues they are having with scheduling makes it really difficult to even list items to sell. Hopefully, as they work out the kinks things will get better. Oddly enough I have 2 prints up tonight and a Day of the Dead mask up for tomorrow, fingers crossed!

If anyone's interested.

Yeah, the things that do the best on Tophatter are jewelry and jewelry supplies. I have sold a lot of soaps there but I think that I'm going to only sell jewelry and beads there from now on because it's pretty much a guaranteed sale.
I've seen some jewelry pieces go for over $30 with a lot of bidders, and I've seen some beads and even buttons get that high and higher. It's crazy! Sadly, my soap auctions are always live at the same time as the big jewelry auctions, so jewelry gets over 200 bidders while bath & body only ever gets up to about 50.

I get into those whenever I can but haven't had much luck lately. I need to make some new things and start listing again. I go broke too quickly without Tophatter. Lol

Can I just say that I am so frustrated with tophatter Happy I did amazingly well the first 3 weeks. Like making $!00+ every week! Just by doing the fairs (I could never actually get jewelry scheduled. and then they changed everything, and I cant get into any of the fails, then they changed to the stand by, and I have had no sales at all Happy I've been able to schedule a few things but not buyers. I've given up for the moment.

But I am so glad Monica is selling so great!!! People love the B&B stuff, but there arent a ba-zillion sellers for it yet i guess, lol!

that sucks, I got my invite, have been in autcions every 4/5 days, only sold 1 item, i put something on standby if i can, but there is no interest in my things. staff say its fine but i guess people just arent interested in the bracelets.
I'm annoyed with the tophatter chat, people come in and ask questions then staff tell them off for talking off-topic, when their "rules" say anything is allowed. although they are apparently working on a IM system.
Sorry about the rant, i just see it happen in every auction.
about standby, i feel that if you put an item into standby too early people miss it because it end up at the bottom of the pile so to speak.
to me it seems that metal-type jewellery, and stash sells the most, i don't do metal jewellery (i want to) and if i sell my stash i wont have anything to make things with.
weekend auctions reopen the standby near the "end" and go on for aaages! sadly i miss all the evening/night auctions because im in uk and dont want to stay up until 5am!

you are not alone. i have chronicled in my blog, my terrible misadventures there for the last few months, and i will finally, after a long and arduous battle, be closing my account for good, in favor of Etsy.... best of luck to you.

Like Pam, I did do well in the first month, but after that it did start to go downhill. I've not even bothered listing auctions now for over a month.

Bath & Body just got overrun with storebought garbage that you can get at the mall, and there are a ton of people who go for stuff that's bad for you instead of getting the handmade cold process soaps that I (and other previous Tophatter B&B sellers) make.

It's been a joke trying to get anything into a real auction. I have "priority" scheduling but I can only ever get my items into standby. I really hate how it's run now, too.

The Auction staff are arrogant jerks who are totally unhelpful, and they're too nit-picky about categories. They kept unscheduling my soaps when I put them in the bath & beauty categories... so I switched them all to skincare and guess what? They got unscheduled again for being in the "wrong" category.

It was nice to start off so great, but disappointing in the way it's run now. I'm giving up on that place. I'll just focus on Etsy and Facebook.
