Video Editing software suggestions?

I'm trying to make a how to video, my tutorial is pretty long though so I'd like to edit the video in certain areas, adjust the speed and add text. It looks like the software I have doesn't let me do everything I need to, does anyone have any recommendations for a free video editing software?

which editor do you normally use? Windows movie maker lets you do all that, but so does imovie (but imovie looks much better in he end)...some of the features of WWM is just in weird places and hard to find >_< but it's usable

I went looking because of your question, and I discovered something called Videopad. It looks quite nice, but I have yet to try it...

I was stuck on the same problem so I contacted with app developer UK they told me Camtasia Studio is the best screen recorder and video editor.
