The doctors don't know what's wrong with me..

I'v been struggling with extreme nausea and vomitting for the past 2 years. It happens completely unexpectedly, at any random time of the day. I get extremely nauseas from an unknown cause, and vomit because of it as well.

We've done literally every kind of test for everything it could possibly be but the doctors still don't know what it is.. I'm really starting to get scared because of it. I thought they'd at least be able to give me a cure by now but no medication works.

People i know say i'm bulimic but i'm really not doing anything like that. I've lost a lot of weight from the constant throwing up but i can't pick up weight again no matter how i try. I really don't know what to do anymore. I just wish there was a cure..

Have they done a scope of your stomach?

Yep, along with cat scans, sonars and blood tests. At first their main focus was testing my liver, kidneys and stomach but they didn't find anything there

Just keep on at them. Doctors can be a little 'lazy' sometimes and I put lazy in quotes because I think it is more the fact that people go in there everyday complaining of a cough and they just get fed up with it. I find it really annoying because my mum was suffering from a really bad pain in her elbow - it was waking her up at night it was so bad, but the doctors said it was all in her head!! I mean WTF!! She rarely goes to the doctor surely they'd look into it?!

Just keep going back to see them then maybe they'll realise in the end that you aren't just making this up. I seriously hope you find a cure or diagnosis, but if not that then I hope some medication works for you soon!

I had similar problems and they did blood tests and ultrasounds and colon/endoscopy and I think a cat scan... I think the barium swallow was what helped them find the abscess and perforations in my small intestine, but until then they couldn't really figure out what was wrong. I was diagnosed with Crohn's disease. Most symptoms of Crohn's appear around age 24.

Medication has been helping keep the symptoms subdued, but weight loss is pretty common. I drink Ensure (nutritional drink) to help gain back some of the weight and nutrients my body needs. I had to work so hard to gain enough weight for my first pregnancy, because they based my pregnancy weight on what was average for height and age, and I was 15 pounds underweight. (Being underweight can be a bad thing, especially when half of your small energy supply is going into the "bun in the oven".)

I really hope they're able to find out what's going on soon b/c I know that you must be miserable. I had the a similar thing for a month, but it was b/c of my nerves. I've had problems with my lower intestines b/c of surgical scars since 2001 and it can be very painful, but that's a totally different ballgame than the upper GI. GI problems are the worst. I wish you all the best. *hugs*

My mom has a similar problem, although I haven't seen her vomit, I know she is nauseous a lot of the time. She has an inner ear problem.. like an imbalance or something. Just moving around (or watching too much motion) will set her off for the day.

I hope you can figure out what is wrong, it sounds like a terrible thing to live with.

I was extremely sick last night and this morning so my mum called the doctor and he gave me two new kinds of meds, one for the next two weeks, and another if the other one hasn't helped at all in two weeks. I really hope this works.. My old pills used to help for the first week or so, but then stopped having any effect.. Thanks everyone for the support

We can get medical marijuana here, but I'm not so sure my doctor would do that. I've got another appointment in about 2 weeks though so I can see if that can help.

I'm so sorry to hear you are having problems getting a diagnosis. It's so frustrating. I have just gone through 7 months of being thought of as a malingerer because the doctors couldn't diagnose my condition. My pain was far in excess of what was expected for my injury.
Turns out my sympathetic nervous system is damaged. I'm getting the right treatment now but like you I have had to endure countless tests that came back negative. Each result made me begin to doubt myself and made me more depressed as no one knew what to do next.
You are your own expert when it comes to your health so make a nuisence of yourself till you get answers. Don't use wikipedia as as source of info as it gives worse case senarios and isn't very informative.
Good luck sweetie x

I really think doctors drag out the process of finding out what you have so they can get more money out of you. Everytime I have had something wrong with me they send me to do all kinds of tests and see all kinds of specialists. And by the time I become frustrated and give up they still don't know what it is.
