I hate my super senstive skin

I live in Newfoundland, Canada. The winters are harsh and even worst on my skin, the cold air drys and cracks my skin. makes it red and itchy. Blotchy. And people keep asking me whats wrong with me.

Summers! ACK! Then my face breaks out, I am sensitive to the sun as well, I burn so easliy.

I really wish that my skin wasn't so senstive.

Can I join your club?! Living in Iceland it is the same for me. I only have to wear a scarf around my neck and it breaks out, I get rashes from wool, wearing my socks too tight, my face goes bright red when I walk in the wind and cold and doesn't go down for hours!
What can we do eh? Wrap up nice and warm, moisturise well. I always have at least one tub of vaseline on me. I bite my lips and that makes the chapping even worse! But I find it's good to rub around my face during the day to keep in moist.

Then the summer! oh I hate the sun, I too burn on sight. Again I always have a bottle of high factor suncream in my bag, I can be seen putting it on as the sun pops out from behind the clouds for a minute. I don't want skin cancer! I like to wear factor 60, but they don't sell that here haha

Opposites...you could make a fleece scarf or scarf out of other material.

Michelle, I recently heard on the news...they are saying some people may be "allergic" to winter, who knows if this is true?

Maybe you should try some good lotion...everyday. I put it on my feet, they get real bad.

I know, I meant to make one ages ago and then ended up falling in love with some icelandic wool! haha I wore that scarf once doh!
I shall make a fleece one Happy I do use my fleece buff some days, but that is kinda ugly ;)

I've heard os SAD alright, they have lamps for that which I have heard do great for the winter blues Happy

Yeah, sunlamps...they aren't all expensive either. You could get a ummmmmm......uhh...I had it....flourescent light!...It probbably doesn't work as well as the sunlamps. My sister had one...I think she might still have it....somewhere?

apparently water is a big factor. drinking plenty of it helps keep your body hydrated and I read that you should wash your face with filtered water because the deposits in tap water stay on your skin. mineral water is supposed to be good for it, too.

you need to make a barrier between the cold air and your skin but I know whats its like even with a rich moisteriser I still get dry skin, I just got it under control and now I have a ton on my nose because of my cold Happy

What about vaseline though? the actual jelly type, put some on before you go to bed so you don't have to walk about looking wet in the day time lol

i hate the feeling of peanut butter between my fingers...o.o..its really sticky and slimey and it wont go away unless you strub your flesh away..*sigh* I also hate the cold weather on my skin cause for some odd reason it makes my skin feel kinda raw and extra sensitve no matter how much lotion i bathe in. *sigh*

I does it to pretty much everyone's, I guess skin is delicate, it's like if you leave a bike outside in all sorts of weathers...wear and tear!

I got an exfoliating glove for christmas in a smellies set and I've started rubbing it over my face in small circles were the dry skin is cuz it's like the dry skin is just being coated with creams rather then going away. So I rub it off and then put cream on. I discovered this when I had dry skin on my nose after a cold, but it just kinda peeled off lol and then it never came back so.

My lips always go really dry over winter. It's horrible, and no matter how much lip balm I put on it still takes at least a week to clear up, so then I ease off on the lip balm because putting it on all the time is annoying but as soon as I do that they get really dry again Happy

And I burn really easily too, I don't tan at all. When I go to Honduras I'm going to have to coat myself in suncream all the time because it's going to be hot there!

yeh I even burn on the parting of my hair! I doubt I'll go anywhere hot enough to burn until we go to Austrailia in 2010. I burn then I go brown. I find that most lip balms dry out my lips apart from this Boots one but they don't do it anymore. Try No7 lipcare, it really works for me but I have to put it on every day, it's £8.50 and it's only a small tube but it works. Drinking more water probably helps too.
