quit my job yesterday, yay!

hey everyone,

Haven't posted here much but now I can since I won't be at work much anymore ( i have 6 days left!)

I know some of you are in school but has anyone else hated a job so much?
I felt so unapreciated even though I did half the other staff's work to do since they are so incompetent. I do the work of about 3 people. I worked at a hotel in housekeeping for three years and really started hating it, the guests this summer were so gross and rude. I'm tired of it and I know I can do better. Just don't know what i'm going to do next. Time for a change!

I was a part time worker who worked at least 60-80 hours a week, and usually by myself without lunch because no one else showed up. I tried to make it work, for a year. They finally made me full time, with a fifty cent raise, and then I got really pissed off because I was doing the job of the manager, and though I was told I would get the job, they never gave it to me. And I was sick of waiting. So when I got yelled at for something I didn't do, I just left. ^_^

Yay!

Congrats on being able to leave! Exciting! Have anything you're gonna do now or want to do? I didn't. Tongue But I'm ok now.

you know, its always the hard workers who end up leaving because the coworkers are crap. I hate that no one will get me a job because I am overqualitifed. But giving it to a school dropout is a better idea? WTF. I want a job, you no gives because I went to uni. and I was applying for retail jobs.

That happened to my boyfriend. Tongue Tried to get a job, but they told him he had too much education.

Yeah... and he's also flat broke and the job was paying $15 bucks an hour. And he can't finish his masters degree without money, and he can't get a job related to his degree without a masters... And he can't save up on minimum wage, but all the jobs paying more say he's over qualified.

... and the circle is just depressing.

exactly, I don't know how many other jobs i applied for and didn't get because I was overqualified ( I do have a degree in art) so i end up with cleaning jobs because no one else wants to do it.
I'm kinda stressed about what to do, but next week, the day after my last day, my hubby and i are going on vacation, so I think that's a good start. I'll figure something out when I get back. Till then I will actually have time to do lots of crafting :O)

A vacation is always good. Especially after hell job!

See if you can call in favors. My mom managed to get me in as a receptionist at a doctors office, and it pays good money. We're still working on getting Justin a job though.

Oh I'm so happy for you leaving the crappy job!
I am actually cleaning hotel rooms too Happy I hate it. I have just been on summer holidays(39days, bonus for living in Iceland!) but I am back Saturday and feel so depressed. I hate it, but as I'm not fluent in icelandic yet I have very little options.

Good luck to you in finding another job!

Thanks for the good luck wishes, i'll need it!

Opposited girl - I hope you can find something else too, I was always so depressed too. Are you allowed to listen to music at work? It REALLY helped when I brought my i-pod to listen to, and tucked it in my shirt so it would get caught on anything. Listening to my favorite music made the work days go by much quicker!
