high end vs high street

when it comes to products, what is better to do. Buy high end makeup at Clarin's, Lancome or Clinque or go to the local shop and buy products from Revlon, Oil Olay, Covergirl?

Hmm. I can't afford high end makeup, so I don't really have an opinion. I like Revlon, Rimmel, Max Factor, Almay, and other rather common brands... I suppose you get what you pay for, though.
