People using mascara instead of eyeliner????

I make lots of friends online like for example in cutoutandkeep. I made a new friend in tumblr and she says that she uses mascara to line her eyes instead of eyeliner. She says it works so well and it easy to take it off. She uses a gel mascara. I think it can dangerous but what do you say?

Mascara can be very damaging. Wearing it on eyelashes too often can actually thin and ruin your eyelashes. A lot of mascaras can also be irritating to the eyes, which it's a lot more likely to get to when used as an eyeliner.

Eyeliner is more specialized for being used directly around the eyes for a reason. Plus it's typically cheaper for a decent eyeliner pencil than it is for cheap mascara, same with expensive stuff, too.

You typically never want to repurpose makeup unless it's the 100% natural mineral kind, which is safer on any part of the face/body.

Well... she'll be sorry if she ever uses too cheap of a mascara and her eyes get really sore and puffy =/

Good answers Monika! As you said eye pencil is cheaper than mascara...
Syeyon: but I'd say to ask her if it is because she is actually trying to save money on liquid eye liner That stuff can get pricy and crappy and crumble (sill special formula), or just being different because it's fun to think up new things..... Good question! One other thing too! If she really likes the liquid look, the time honored dipping an angled brush into water and getting the eye shadow wet and applying that way always works too....

Krista: She took a picture of it and she said that she knocked the brush out and put in another angles brush. quite clever but so not good.
