True true, well here in England they've banned all forms of advertising for smoking. Gosh that was quite some time ago, it must be about 6 or so years ago!! I think it's good they don't advertise cig's.

I have been quit for almost a whole year now, I smoked for about 15 years.. It is possible to quit! And it is true that you really have to want to.

3 things that helped me:

1) DEEP BREATHS - as silly as it sounds, it actually does help.. gets more oxygen to your brain and gives yu a little bit of that "ahhhh" feeling

2) REWARDS - Put money aside every day that you would have spent on smokes and at the end of each week or month, buy yourself something. My first month I bought myself an expencive bottle of perfume.
Normally I wouldnt splurge like that, im pretty thrifty. But it felt good to say "im glad I have this nice bottle of perfume insted of damaged lungs and stinky clothes"

3) THINK DIFFERENTLY - Don't think of quitting as "giving something up" because you are actually gaining a whole lot.. health, money, sence of smell and taste..etc etc

When a craving hit, I learned to enjoy it. I thought of the craving as a little nicotine monster who was dying more and more each time I had the urge.

I found that the fear of quitting was a whole lot scarier than actually doing it.

And remember, it is a nicotine addiction...if you want to quit for good, don't even have 1 puff.. get that crap out of your system for good. It takes 3 days for the physical withdrawls to stop.. after that its all in your head. For me, It got a lot easier after the first month.

Congrats on wanting to quit. I hope I have inspired you a little to stay on track. It's not easy but it IS very possible. Good luck Happy

Definitely the Rewards! My friend and her hubby quit together, and they ended up saving SO much the first month, that they went to the beach, had a gourmet meal, and then played slots at the casino until their "extra money" ran out... something they hadn't ever been able to afford before (married 30+ years).

Make a rewards list. Separate it by "Repeat Buys", "Low Cost", and "Expensive". My list has Hair Dye, Oreos, and Serger Machine respectively. Use pictures to help keep a visual reminder of your goals. Pick out some rewards that involve your daughter too, since she's your inspiration, like a special trip together, or shopping, or professional photos.

Good luck!
Even though I dont know you, Im very proud of you for trying to quit.
My auntie, who smokes and drinks a lot, had to get all of her teeth pulled out, and now has dentures. Shes not even 30 yet.

Awh haha thanks for the support it's well sweet dudes (:
Yeah like over here you think it would have made me and others stop straight away.
On the front of the ciggie boxes there are like hold on ill put a link dont gross out too much .

I honestly thought it would gross me out but i learnt to just never pay attention to the pictures and funnily enough only now do they shock me :|
And yeah i thought of that like the money i would save i can now put it towards my kawaii collections and craft making (:

I saw on some news report the other day some pics from this thing they have traveling from museum to museum displaying REAL bodies and body parts. it's called Bodies. They had a real smoker's lung on display next to a healthy lung. They also showed a smoker's lung still inside a body. It was disturbing, maybe you should go see the show or find pics online.
