i quit 5 years ago, very hard! i have dreams about smoking...the price has jumped to almost 10 bucks a pack, i look at it like this~what can 10 bucks get me? craft supplies, books, gas. depending on how much you smoke, it really does add up, I think I was up to 2 packs a day when i quit. I wasnt a nice person to be around for a few weeks but in the end it was the best thing for me and my family.
I do know that you have to want to quit for it to stick, i smoked for 20 years and quit 1/2 a dozen times before i decided to just do it!
GOOD LUCK! you can do it! lots of water and jolly ranchers...

Good luck on quitting! Not only is it good for you but also your daughter. When kids are exposed to second hand smoke they are at an increased risk for bursting eardrums(painful), Water in the ear canal, asthma, inability to fulfill mental or physical potential, ect.. Maybe that can help motivate you..Just don't give up..Maybe give your smokes and lighters to someone else so you will have to ask for them back..This helped my husband anyway, and sunflower seeds Happy Also take it slowly..It takes at least 30days to form a habit and it's silly to think you can break it in less time.

It is music to my ears when I hear someone say they are going to quit or have quit. Cigarette smoke gives me massive migraines and not all smokers realize what they are doing to me. >.< Even if you smoke outside I can smell it if I have to pass by in order to enter a building! I wish my brother would stop smoking because of this but cancer runs in our family so I'm worried about him. He's only 25!

I can't imagine how awful trying to quit smoking can be for you. It's difficult enough for me to lose weight.

BUT when I was at Uni, moreso in my first and second years I became moreso of a social smoker. It really does creep up on you, I used to pinch a fag off my mates whenever we went drinking, then before I knew it I started buying my own boxes if I knew we were going out for the night. I stopped because I got to a point where I felt ill and groggy and really nasty. I never really became addicted as such, I never thought of cigarettes all the time and stuff, but you see other people smoking or something around you triggers a thought of "hhmm I could really fancy a fag right now!!"

So yeah, it must be like 1000 times harder for you lot.

I wish you guys all the best of luck although I won't be quitting smoking with you I will be losing weight alongside your progression Tongue

Good for you hun and I wish you good luck to succeed!

I'm a smoker,I started really early.I don't think I could quit it,unless I get pregnant.
I like to smoke.

The main thing is you need a strong will to quit (which I don't have Happy ) But you have your motivation, your daughter! Happy

Hi Kellbear. I don't drink alcohol...not even sure I spelt it right...LOL
But I've been diagnosed with CRPS. My consultant has told me giving up smoking is a must. I smoke about 5 a day now. Down from 20. It's really difficult as I enjoy smoking.
We can be 'giving up' buddies if you like Happy

Awh haha thankyou. It's good to know i have support like it's hard because like everyone i know apart from my partner smokes. Like i will go around to visit my mum or my dad will be there and they are like you want one and im like hesistant but im like screw it XD
My friends are the same all smokers and then when i go to the inlaws they smoke tooo !!! ;/
I ususally smoke like 20 at least a day and it sure does burn a hole in m pocket. Like on top of all my other bills its crazy. The last time i stopped well and truly was when i was pregnant of course like no drink or ciggies. And then i started again but ive been smoking since i was 11-12 something like that i doubt any younger.

Like early hours this morning i was like ahhh everyones woke me up i need a ciggie cos its like the first thing i do when i get up then for a moment i was like oh yahhhh...i threw them and im stopping lol.

But yeah i deffo need to stick to it for my little girls sake and also as morbid as it sounds i was thinking about my grandmother the other day and like she smoke 40 a day that was more than me but she still smoked a lot and she was eventually sadly riddled with Cancer. And when she passed like it killed everyone. I dont want my family and little girl to go threw that :/

Plusss i'm going on a masssive health kick but yesh @sheila we can be giving up buddies lol Tongue

Try to find someone to quit with, be it smoking or some bad habit. I know my friend's mom smoked for yeaars. Her husband ate way too many sweets. They bet each other they could each outlast each other in not smoking/eating sweets. My friend's dad is way more healthy now, and her mom hasn't smoked at all for the past few months.

Good luck!

OMG, good luck!! The world needs all the non-smokers it can get. ;)

(For the record, it is TERRIBLE over here in Israel--when the smokers see that they are bothering me, they blow the smoke RIGHT in my face, just to make it worse. Since coming here, I've contracted secondhand-smoke-induced asthma. -.-)

Again, THANK YOU for stopping!!! We appreciate it as much as you do. Happy Good luck!!! I applaud you. :-D

Eeewww that video is gross!! The eye one freaked me out more and the artery one too...

In the UK they put gross piccies on cig boxes of things of organs and the consequences of smoking on those organs. I doubt it has much effect but it's something.

I think they really ought to show progressed pics in commercials of lung damage and even skin damage. Smoking ages you, it's like curing meat for beef jerky. Better to quit now while you're young than later when the damage is already done!
