Help me with my Halloween party!!

Soooo.... for me to have Halloween in Israel, I pretty much have to go to the American bar in Tel Aviv (crowded and smoky), or I can have a party for my friends! I really want to have a costume party, so I need help making it happen!! :-D

I already have a list of some ideas for food and decorations, but I'm interested to know what others are doing for food/drink, some appropriate music selections, whether or not others are having a movie (if so, what movie, and if not, how are you keeping people entertained? Please note that this will be a party for people ages 21-24), etc.

Just as a side note, while I would love to hear about your gross-and-gory-looking Halloween food, I won't be making any myself. I can't handle that; I can be a bit of a wuss!! ;)

So far on my list, I have Halloween cupcakes, the cardboard chandelier, felt leaves for a garland or hanging in the window or something, the candy dish made out of kit kats (it looks like a bushel basket to me!!), a halloween tree, and a few other misc. ideas.

Also, I know alcohol is a must for this age group, but it's pretty expensive here. We will probably get a few packs of beer and then make some sort of Fall-ish cocktail or something. I have no idea about the cocktail so far, although I have a feeling I will end up using apple juice and cinnamon or something.... ideas/recipes?

Does anyone have any **ACE** ideas?? Let us know here!! :-D

*First time I'm using the word publicly, so I'm excited. So sue me. ;)

I've never had a party for a holiday. But something my mom did one year for halloween was amusing. She got those fake arms and legs and had them sticking out of her trunk. Two different cops pulled her over about it. The first one said "I don't think he looks too happy in there" and the other one just told her how funny it was.

Mom's not the only one to be pulled over by the police on halloween. One year when I was dressed up as Leon from Resident Evil(he's a cop) the police pulled over and stopped us and asked me if my costume was an RPD costume. LOL

But other than my threadjacking, maybe you can find a fake hand or leg and have it stuck in a doorway or trunk. It doesn't have to be bloody, the ones my mom got weren't. There is also the classic construction paper chain. That would be easy for you to make if you can't find more decorations. Maybe you could make a "pin the skull on the skeleton" game.

OMG, if we do pin-the-skull after they've had a few drinks, it could be fun. :-P (My only concern is that some of them won't drink so much because they have to drive, but HEY! It would be amusing for them to watch anyway. ;) )

I would light some candles around the apartment for decoration and last year when we had our Halloween party at a club (not sure if you want the mess in the apartment) but we covered the floor with fall leaves. It looked amazing.
But that's just us,two years ago we had a real coffin that the guys stole from the lich house. Happy and real crosses too.
If I can find them Ill post some pictures, maybe you get some inspiration from it. Happy

BWAHAHAHAHAHHAH!!!! I think that if we tried to steal a coffin, they would get thrown in jail and I'd be deported!!! xD This is still, however, the best thing I've heard all day. xD

Also, the candle thing is a good idea. I might have a look around central station (Israel's equivalent of the dollar store) to see if I can find any black candles.

It was the best party ever! It was the first Halloween party ever in our town, everyone taught we where weirdos and now, three years later everyone is organizing Halloween parties. Happy

Oh,and can you see the white spider web on the wall? I made that! Happy Its white chunky yarn put up with some tape. Its really simple and it would look good in any corner or on any wall.

Cool!!! I like the spider web idea. Lol--I can imagine people thinking you were a bunch of weirdos, if they weren't used to Halloween at all! :-P

music wise - you could get some creepy noises. Like doors opening, people screaming, cat hissing that kind of stuff and play them under ur regual music. if people armt expecting it the ambiant sound sure does give them the goose bumps. I dont know if you can find anything like that in isreal but its a cool thought none the less. i will try to find you a good halloween theme music web site.

If you want how to's for any of the food items lemme know. Didn't want to list all of them, haha.
At our Halloween parties we usually have music playing in one room..and in another room we'd have horror movies playing.
We'd play beer pong with eyeball ping pong balls..

Oh, and we have a real coffin that we use as a cooler

OMG, I totally love that you used a coffin as a beer cooler. xD

Today I went out in search of black candles... well, guess what.... turns out Jews are really superstitious about black candles!!!!! xD I found ONE box in the entirety of Central Station (which has absolutely everything--I also saw Easter eggs today, lmao). Silly me--I didn't buy them because I wasn't 100% sure if they were the shape I wanted. Such an idiot... turns out I was lucky to find them at ALL.

Well, I just told Shlomi to pick them up on the way home, because they were the ONLY box, and there was like, ONE black candle in our town (which I also bought). xD

My family is really superstitious of black candles too, but I was raised Mormon. It's bad luck apparently.

I was raised conservative-Lutheran (essentially Catholic). We have always been superstitious about black candles as well... but hey, it's just colored wax, eh? ;)Besides for something bad to come from them, according to the superstition, you have to be casting a certain spell.

Now, Ouija boards, on the other hand.... those I won't go near, although the little fake ones on here are adorable.

I've been posting Halloween stuff on my blog and I also have a Halloween PLAYLIST!

http://la-bouilloire-noire.blogspot.com/

My friend Matt used to have Halloween Parties almost every year, except last year because of how sick he was and this year because he passed away- but he used to say movies at parties brought them down because everyone would be sitting there watching them. That didn't stop us from watching Buffy Halloween Specials or a few good old Black and White horror films. But movies do generally kill the buzz of a party- only way it would work would be if you made it into a shot game. Like if you watched Labyrinth and everyone has to take a drink when someone says "piece of cake" or something like that.

I don't know how your home is set up, but I've heard of some people setting up their parties so that their friends had to go through a "haunted house" before getting to the party.

Oh and black candles aren't bad luck- they are supposed to be used to remove negative energy or forces and also to heal serious illnesses. Makes me wish I had gotten some for my friend Matt. Don't know that it would have helped, but couldn't have hurt.
