pms help please! (haa)

Ok, so when I'm not on the contraceptive pill and I've got PMS I am a DRAGON. When I was younger and I was being bullied at school and I had PMS I would scream and throw things about and basically act as though I had autism, despite being perfectly healthy.

I thought I'd grown out of that, until a while ago i accidnetally forgot to take my pill for a month and when the pms rolled about i turned into a huffy twerp and would bash my fists on the kitchen counter and burst into tears when I found out we had no apple juice...

The thing is, now I'm not going out with my Tom anymore, obviously I don't need to take the pill anymore... but I don't want PMS. I also don't want to have chemicals and things rushing through my body and increasing my risk of cancer. What other (effective) PMS control methods are there? Plz help! I don't want to kill anybody!

The only advice I can think of is to exercise and eat iron. That is what I do and I don't usually have that bad of PMS. I actually take an iron supplement which really helps with cramping. As for exercise, I'm not that great at making sure I do that regularly, but when I do PMS is a breeze.

Apart from staying home in bed with a hot water bottle and some chamomile tea, I have no clue.
Sorry it effects you so bad, would you not go to your doctor and ask him for some advice?

I used to take evening primrose oil tablets which is for pms, but I never took them consistently enough to say if they were effective or not. You could give them a try.

eat chocolate. It does help, but the dark chocolate

Oh yeah chocolate helps.

If I were you, I'd just stay on the pill. Apart from taking away mood swings, it lightens and shortens periods which is always useful, and it's brilliant as a back-up, in case anything went wrong.

But I've been on it since I was thirteen, so I don't know any other ways of controlling mood swings (I dealt with mine when I had the nasty ones before)

I do that anyway! Green and Blacks' 70% all the way.

I'm going to go to the doccos when I get me some time. I've got three months until I become a horrid person so :-D

Why three months?

Make sure it's a female doctor, most male doctors just tell you to take a paracetomal or something.

I've got three months left of contraceptive pills.

Yeah, haha... I could go into hideous detail about male v female doctors but I shan't.

Well I think in things like this, it's understandable, in the same way that if I was a guy I wouldn't expect a woman doctor to understand, say, how much my balls hurt when they were kicked, you know?

yeh I'd just stay on the pill, I know there's risks but there's risks with walking out of your front door every morning. It just seems easier and that period you have when you come off the pill may be the worst one of your life - sorry, dont wanna worry you more, but my mate came off the injection and had to spend a week in bed because she was THAT ill from the first one after stopping getting the injection.

I went on the pill when I was 15 I think and at first he gave me these crap acid tablets or something that did frig all, so then I went on the pill but when I need my 6 month check up I go to the nurse who is female (even though she has to go to the doctor to get him to sign the prescription, I know I can just ask anything, feel comfortable talking to a woman like). So maybe try to get an appointment with the nurse (female one obviously) or family planning something like that?

It's so annoying when you're 11 or 12 and all the girls are being shitty and all the mums go 'it's your age' but they never stop saying that, your hormones never really settle until the menopause I bet! The girls i knew at that age were horrible people to begin with lol

I didn't go on birth control until i was 21...but i wasn't horrid when i had my period...i just got terrible cramps...so bad that i couldn't move some days. I tried taking midol...NEVER AGAIN...that stuff made me feel WORSE...i felt dizzy and shaky ALL day and just wanted to lay down. Then I went on the pill...no bad cramps...no more long periods...so I like it...

...although I do worry about the risks...i think they say you can be on it for 13 years or something...

But I know it increases your chances of getting some cancers and deep vein thrombosis, but it does minimise your chance of getting other types of cancer (at least, mine does).

Do you go to the normal doctor for your pill, or a seuxal health clinic? Cause if it's the latter, it may be better to go to them with your problem.

Sometimes you might not get your period right away after you stop the pill. One time a few years ago it took 9 months before I got mine! I was convinced I was up the duff even though I had gone to the doctor haha

Haha I know, when I forgot to take the pill a couple of months ago it took a month and a half for my period to come back- and what a period. Yeeeeesh.

I go to my normal docco for my pills. There's two female doctors now, and I'm sure they'll take me seriously... I'll make sure of it! If not I'll go in one time with PMS and a knife.
