Healthy For the New Year

Ok, so i'm trying to find cheap healthy recipes, im finding that is diffcult. But i really want to eat healthy for myself (i also want healthy recipes for breakfast foods, cause the high sugar ceral dont work for me and the "healthy" foods you buy at stores for breakfast either cost to much for to little, or they have some unspeakable words in them)

Got any my lovely crafters?

Porridge is good for breakfast, it's hot so it warms you up and it's slow release energy so it keeps you going for ages. It's really nice with a bit of honey drizzled in, om nom nom.

I totally agree on the porridge.

I think it's always best to cook from scratch. No matter what the ingredients, be it a burger and chips or some lasagna.

I love allrecipes.com....a ton of quick cheap recipes. And you can always substitute. I almost never follow a recipe to code and just make it up as I go along.

Beans are cheap and fantastic for you, chickpeas, lentils, etc. Its a lot cheaper if you dont buy canned but buy dry beans instead.

As a student I have a ton of cheap and healthy recipes that I just sort of made up on my own... I can maybe toss some up on this website, Ive never actually printed up my recipes so I cant guarantee results Tongue.

Also, I recommend smoothies for breakfast...especially if you put soy protein in them. A good container of soy protein last for months, and if you are working out it lessens your recovery time after workouts. Its also great if you dont have enough money to eat meat on a regular basis... (I cant because of this). Also, if you cant get soy protein or its too expensive, tofu is amazing!!! It has tons of protein and its super cheap!!! I throw that into smoothies as well.

ooohh oooh ooh, also at the beginning of the week, make yourself a meal plan. That way you only have to buy for the week and you don't run the risk of buying things that will go bad and be a waste of money..

ok...Im going to stop now...I swear

A yummy breakfast (very sweet though); get some chocolate bread decoration, or chocolate paste, not sure what the english name it, put it on a slice of bread and put it in the microwave for a few seconds. Kids love it!
A less sweet version (for the adults XD) cucumber and cheese, and in the microwave. Warm cucumber is yummy. *-* Slices of banana on bread is good too.

Or a bowl of yoghurt is a good start of the day. Add a little syrup or honey to make it sweet.

A cheap but decent dinner is rice... add a little meat and one tomato, and a bag rice sauce that's about 20 cents, and yum a cheap dinner!
Use the leftovers in your fridge, and try out some combinations of veggies and stuff that you'd never expect to be yummy. Some things turn out to taste good!

Also get fruit & veg from the market not supermarket. I don't know where abouts you are but I like going to the fruit & veg stalls about 3.30/4.00pmish as they sell things off cheap.
