Watercolours

Just interested to know- i have a set of watercolour paints and one of them has leaked a clear sticky residue at the bottom. It absolutely stinks! What has happened to it?? Should it still be ok to use.
I'm just intrigued.
thanks

The liquid coming out is just the liquid base to the paints. After a long time they will start to separate, if there wasn't a hole you could just squish around the paint in the tube to mix it back up, lol. The paint will dry up if lots of the liquid seeps out, but it's totally still useable. You just have to rip open the tube and break off a few pieces of hardened paint, then mix it with a little water like you would normally do for water colors. I have tons of watercolors too and some are super old. When mine seperate and dry up I trim off the very end of the tube and get to the paint that way, then just roll the end back up a few times to close the tube. All mine are in metal tubes though, I don't think that would work with the plastic ones. Either way the paint is still good Happy
